I'm sure Apple fanbois didn't realize the previous iPhone Sony sensor was the same as the one in the old Samsung Galaxy III.

I bet it's still less than 1/2.3" that is in most low cost P&S cameras.

Definitely, Jogiba. Think along the lines of 1/3". Without the lenses or image stabilization.

My next phone will be the iphone 5s updated from the iphone 4, i looked at the iphone 5s, Sony Xperia Z1 and the Nokia Lumina 1020 ( i have a 920 right now*i have 2 personal lines*) but the iphone 5s always comes out on top for the best overall device in size, and features i will use daily, not so much a fanboy but more of what suits my daily needs for a device i can carry comfortably all year round.
*update* loving new iphone5s 64gb now i need to record interesting images That happens in front of me

Whatever one thinks about the death of p&s - I believe that will only happen when cellphones have a sensor like the Sony RX100 and enough manual overide as in the RX100.

We have two Samsung Galaxy S4's - I think the camera is still better than my iphone 5 - much better detail and IQ but then I don't care as I have a Sony RX100 which trounces both easily and in that respect phone cams have a far way to go.

I hate looking at pics on the Samsung as the screen still has the Samsung "green" hue and garish contrast - my iphone is perfect in this respect and matches my ipad2 and Imac 27"

Lastly the screen of the Samsung, Sony Xperia is still not as bright as the iphone making it all but impossible to read anything in our South African sun - hence why my phone gets taken on long beach walks - it also slides easily into a small pocket too;-)

Well the P&S market has been doomed for a while now and just continues to get worse. What will camera phones be like in 5 years? P&S cameras better be FF monsters like the RX1 for them to compete
not doomed but in transition i would say and as you've shown towards full-frame, they'll just have to lower prices for the masses.
