The Full Frame NEX is going to be announced in October !

QuoteQuote:
The first camera will cost around $3000. There will be also a “cheaper” camera coming a couple of months later. Both cameras feature the same sensor and both are very NEX-7 alike (but they will NOT replace the NEX-7). Overall it looks like Sony pushed very hard on the accelerator to be the first company (after Leica) launching a full frame compact camera with interchangeable lenses. Sounds like the RX1 success convinced them to put all their resources and knowledge on a sort of interchangeable mount version. Sounds great!
Yes, the NEX-FF is going to be announced in October. Priced at around $3000. | Mirrorless Rumors

BTW B&H and other dealers have been selling full frame E mount Cine lenses for many months.

Just 20% bigger than nex-7 - still manageably small. Looking forward to it.

Man it will be nice when you guys get your full frame NEX so you can stop pissing over every other camera. Hope you’ve got a decent credit limit to afford all those Zeiss lenses to go with your $3000 body.
The FF idiots are everywhere.
Just think, if Sony wouldd have bought Pentax instead of whoever it is they did buy (was it Minolta they took their mount from?)... we'd have some peace on our forum instead of them... luck of the draw I guess.

I am so envious.

It'll be tough for the FF guys though, now they'll have to compete on the merit of their images when they post in forum contests, instead of whining about not having a full frame. Based on my experience in several other photo forums, they're going to find out, If they didn't win any forum competitions before, they aren't going to win any now either. And they'll lose those competitions to APS-c shooters more often than not.

$3,000 is about the same price as the fixed lens Sony RX1 which has sold very well. The success of the RX1 is one of the reasons Sony is bringing a FF NEX to market.

The sad thing for FF shooters, is that if Pentax does come out with an FF, there is very little chance it will come in under that for it's initial price. The Pentax FF fantasy, D800 functionality for D600 money, just isn't going to happen. If Nikon can't do it... Pentax certainly isn't going to do it. The way D800s have held their price would also suggest that the margins on it aren't that high. They have to make 3k on it to make it worth their while to sell it.

I really hate this idea. Full frame means f2.8 zooms to me (sorry that's what I think of) and shooting those on a camera like this would be an ergonomic nightmare. I would prefer for larger sensored cameras to keep the SLR size, even if you drop the mirror.

Sony is moving away from the SLT technology and making a mirrorless A-mount. You will be able to get a FF mirrorless in a DSLR body to better balance those longer lenses.

Sure. I'm not opposed to that. I just hate the whole "tiny camera, big lens" shift that seems to have happened in the last five years.

But the RX1 has a $1000 Zeiss lens built into it. A FF sensor isn't futuristic, groundbreaking technology and there is little reason to price a FF NEX as high or more than, lets say a Nikon D800, a Canon 5D3. $2000 seems more realistic. After all, the flagship APS-C NEX 7 at release was $1199 I seem to recall.

Looks like Pentax is beaten to the punch yet again with too much over consideration.

Its a good thing if the NEX FF turns out to be true.
Its a guarantee that no matter what happens to K mount or for those who want to use their Pentax FF lenses on FF, there is this choice.

No rush for me though, since its so pricey.
I can wait for the price to drop and in the meantime see what moves Pentax makes within the next 6-9mths.

Funny how the guy that seen the cameras said the primes were too slow, they need better lenses. And here we are with plenty of FF prime lenses for pittance and no digital camera to use them! Hmmmm

Sony in moving aggressively and they likely to keep prices competitive, body price may be below RX1 price as Sony can discount the 35/f2 Zeiss optic in RX1. Possible!!! Any idea about IBS?

How many of you will still wait for Pentax to release FF?
