I didn't realize that 1k was for the 2 lens kit. The camera is 800 for the 11-27mm zoom. I think that's a bit more reasonable, for the niche group that would be interested in this camera.

Again a missed opportunity for Pentax.
Missed opportunity to do what?

AW1 is at best a niche product. At least, its 1 system was selling well.

Pentax has the Q, which itself is already a niche product, and we are already complaining about its price.
So you want a niche model of a niche product selling at an even higher price?

I don't think so.

Fortunately Pentax didn't miss anything. Pentax, being just a badge with 6 letters, is comfortable sitting in a drawer until something is drawn, designed, and, gosh, maybe even manufactured by its owner.

I remember Nikonos of decades ago; a funny looking underwater little brick. Now Nikon repeats the same recipe. So it's not exactly a missed out opportunity for Ricoh, but rather Nikon playing the same old tune.
So true. The Nikonos (designed in collaboration with Jacques Cousteau) was unique during the entire length of its very long product run. It was a niche product at the time and quite nicely served its intended target market.

FWIW, the last generation Nikonos was waterproof to 100 Meters. That is quite a testament to its design and the quality of its o-rings.

Well I think putting that sensor in a waterproof snorkelcamera is all you need. The lenschanging isn't that important.

Nice camera, but the price is 839 euro, while you can get a J2 for 279 euro.

I'll take this as an encouraging sign that Nikon will continue to develop the 1 series. I think it's got a lot of potential. AF is killer.
