Originally posted by tuco My only experience I've had with Nikon service is sending in a D600 for a sensor cleaning. It came back with a new sensor and shutter assembly installed. It didn't cost me a dime not even for shipping and handling. That was an expensive fix for them and the camera store even gave me a loner while I waited! Seemed like a sweet deal. I was impressed.
I think if most had been treated as you, they would be happy. Most didn't get a free loaner and many had stains appear right after replacement only to have to face the prospect of sending it in yet again.
I have to think Nikon looked at their sales numbers after the stain issue got on the radar of potential purchasers and decided they needed to make a clean break to try to get back consumer confidence and see decent sales in their entry level full frame offering.
