I will probably buy the A7r and K-mount adapter for my 31mm. I'll wait to see the reviews of the Zeiss 55mm. For the price I can get the Zeiss 50mm F/2 or just use my Sigma 50mm F/1.4 but that will probably be huge on the small A7r and MF is not that great.

I dunno if the 6 is different from the 5N, but on the 5N all the essential functions are scattered across 4 different menus. Quality select (RAW/JPEG/etc) is in the "image size" menu. ISO is under the "Brightness" menu. Autofocus mode select is under the "camera" menu IIRC (and is important if you want to switch between MF and DMF).
The menu system is the single biggest complaint I've heard about on the NEX.
In NEX-6, you have Quick-Navi - basically you can set almost everything from one screen. I hardly need to go to menu at all.

But A7 is likely going to use the RX menu which is very different from NEX. Hope they retain the Quick-Navi feature though.

You can change all the settings right from this screen.

Thanks for the pictorial comparison. IMO, one of the best features of the body shape, is the solid right hand grip for the Nex's, including the A7 series. It provides a very secure handhold which is not present on the Leica camera by its side. If they provide an improved menu system over the Nex as suggested by the post above, and a few normal to moderate zooms over the next year or so, it'll be an easy winner.

The first time I saw the aps nex body shape, i didn't think it was very attractive, but now that i've used them, I think they look great - but then i've always been a fan of functional designs.

Yes. Because going the middle way is best way anyway, I opt for that Leica.

I've always loved their glass and hated their cameras.

But why 55mm? On APS-C this is a 85mm FoV lens, but on FF it is a little odd. Is Zeiss just trying to be different?
Because it's much easier to make than a 50mm in strict terms, and because they can hardly match Leica's 50/f2 to be compared with.
So they avoid direct comparison to set their price.

According to Nikon Rumors Nikon will probably be announcing a $2,500 58mm F1.4 lens within 24hours.

The rumor is that the 24-70 is F/2.8 not F/4.0. I don't think that is the case, but its possible the have an F/2.8 version in the works.

Looks like a flip out screen(bottom up).
That being said, I can't say I hate the look. I think it has a nice retro/high-tech look to it.

It's not a bad blend of minimalist and traditional. It's not amazing looking, but I think the FF is more important. It looks like a serious camera with serious quality. No toyish multi-color design.

I still have concerns over the E-mount being used for a FF sensor. E-mount was designed for ASP-C and I'm worried that compromises were made to make it a FF mount..... Hope I am wrong. The sensor looks like it doesn't even fit in the mount.

I'm very interested in the 55mm F/1.8. If it matches the CZ 50mm F/2 for M-mount it will buy it.

Looks like a bunch of buttons around the body to reduce menu diving.

1. A c1, c2, and c3 buttons for customized assignment.

2. Both a menu and Fn button.

3. A toggle button switchable between AEL and AF/MF. Hopefully, they haven't left off an AFL function.

4. Front and back rollers, plus the 4-way disc - plenty of flexibility there if they programmed for it.

5. "1" and "2" on mode selection rotary switch. I assume that's for memorizing two different customized sets of controls.

This is quite different from the aps Nex typical setup - which is a good thing. They are using a different menu design.

French specifications.

2.5fps with AF
5fps manual focus
Battery life is really poor.
