FULL FRAME PENTAX....by Sony?

Well the new E mount full frames are probably the best way to get some 43mm love on a full frame sensor. I probably will hold off for a while, but finally the adapter craze might be interesting for me with these guys. Who knows I might just be able to accurately focus my ZF.2 50mm at 1.4...

Time for Pentax (and Fuji) to follow suit. APSC is great, love my K5 and X100S images, but I instantly see the difference a full frame sensor makes with my pro work, which is the only reason I have to keep my Nikon.

I have been using the FA43mm f/1.9 Special on my Leica M9 and monochrom for years....

I ordered the A7 today, and K mount adapter (as well as Leica and Nikon adapters for now). I'll try it as a backup to my Leica M9 as well as a Full Frame solution for all my old Pentax-M lenses and even my old Nikon F lenses (instead of a D600). It sounds like a good solution to collections of just about any make of old lenses!

I think I will keep my old lenses I want to sell, for a while. I smell a price hike for old lenses!

I like using my full frame PK mount lenses better on my full frame Sony NEX-VG900 than on my K-7 or K-01 since it has a fantastic adjustable angled OLED EVF along with flip out LCD. I am sure anyone here with full frame PK mount lenses looking for a full frame body to use with them will be interested in the 24MP A7 or 36MP A7r since the 36MP Nikon 800E beat the 645D in the Pentax Forum review here and the 36MP A7r cost much less.

Wow so you must be stoked that somebody finally made a decent camera for your lens! ;-)

ISO 3200 in color...wow 2008 is looking like it's going to be a GREAT year!

Oh, boy... not again!
That's no Pentax camera, that's just a Sony mirrorless thingie. It's OK if you want to go mirrorless and you like Sony, but if what you like are Pentax cameras it would be a grave mistake to go with the Sony.
Be patient for a little while.

Once the New Sony's have been thoroughly reviewed end tested, I'll probably jump on one.

As a owner of Minolta, Pentax, Konica and Nikon Legacy glass the A7/7r seems so far as a pretty good idea.

Not that much more $ than a K3 and I already have a K-5 IIs so I'm set with a great Pentax body for a few years anyhow.

Interesting times for a photographer for sure.

People are overlooking the microlens issue: These sensors are designed with microlenses that act differently with their distance from the optical axis and probably won't work well with legacy lenses.

When it comes to wide angle M mount lenses yeah this will probably be an issue to some degree. However with Pentax lenses the widest one would probably bother adapting would be what? The 31mm? And that lens was designed for a much longer flange distance so it's unlikely to have as many problems as M mount lenses do. Also the A7r has a microlens set up, but if I get one I'm going with the A7 for the phase detect AF system.

I think that's only an issue for lenses with a short registration distance. DSLR lenses work great with the NEX 7, but wide angle rangefinder glass had issues(Enter the Sony 5N). the angle of light on an SLR lens is different than that of a rangefinder lens.

I actually hope Pentax answers with a mirrorless FF that takes the drawbacks of these A7's and beats the living crap out of them.

lets see:
1/160" flash sync. okay Pentax, lets go with 1/320"
4fps? why not get 8-10 just for fun
350 shots per battery? thats embarrassing
only charges though USB cable? wtf?!

so if Pentax can address those and build a much more attractive body in a similar form factor with a best in class EVF and undercut them a $100 or so they can take Sony and tell them what for.
