Zeiss will launch manual focusing lenses for the A7-A7r! | sonyalpharumors

I guess Zeiss sees more $$$ in making FE-Mount glass than K-mount glass.

I wouldn't mind betting they're on a good contract with Sony, and probably making more out of it than Sony, as a result. Sony had to get a cachet from somewhere to validate their name on DSLRs and higher-end cameras, and I imagine they've paid well for it.

As Pentax sales grow, I'm sure Zeiss will come back, but although they're not for cheapskates, they're considerably less expensive than the Leica equivalents.

Makes sense since Sony makes lousy glass and Pentax makes good ones for less.

Zeiss is under contract to design Alpha and E-mount AF lenses. All of which are noted as Sony Zeiss and are built by Sony to Zeiss standards (Zeiss designs). The manual focus lenses and the new Touit (Fuji X-mount & Sony E-mount) are designed and built by Zeiss, and are not part of any agreement with Sony.... which is why they also come in X-mount for Fuji.

The new manual focus Zeiss lenses for FE-mount has nothing to do with Sony any more than the new Otus has to do with Nikon or Canon or any of the ZE/EF lenses that Zeiss makes.

Makes a lot of sense, as the registration distance between M mount and E mount are close enough that the designs probably just need tweaking.

Given that the non Sony Zeiss lenses are actually made by CV, I wonder if we will also see Voigtlander branded E mount lenses. That would be good.

Do you even write anything substantial than copy and pasting links all over PF and DPR?

50mm?
55mm??
35mm?
85mm?

Anyway, again, you are pointing to a CZ for Sony, not a Sony, and I did say Pentax also makes good lenses and did not use the word 'better'.
In case I somehow offended your oh my god its a zeiss sensitivities.

Was I even serious in the first place
