What's funny about these images from Nikon that get more and more filled in is that you'd think by now they would at least show their brand name on it.

They're not showing it because it reads RICOH, the result of a lost bet...

In the latest teaser video, they do end up showing the Nikon logo and the font is more upright and reminiscent (the same?) of the old school Nikon logo, rather than the current one which is italicised. Maybe that's why they didn't show it in earlier videos as they wanted to keep it a surprise?

Regarding size - I don't think the Dx00 bodies are overly large, it really depends on the lens you've attached.. maybe I've just gotten use to using my D700 and forgot how compact my previous Pentax APS-C bodies were.

From what we've seen so far, I think it looks pretty nice and I'm really looking forward to seeing the full confirmed specs and price. Only 5 more days!

This appeals to my inner Luddite - controls from a manual camera like I love using so much, but still a modern digital camera. But I can see how not everyone is going to like this...

Still need to see official specs, size comparisons, how the VF and camera works with mf lenses, and a personal hands-on. If the performance is good, the VF is big and bright, and mf lenses are easy to focus... it could be for me.

Yup - hence the "could" in the be for me portion of the statement... luxury pricing, and I'm out.

Some whys:

1. Why's the Nikon logo not printed directly on the chassis like pentaxes? It looks like printed on a different plate, even plastic.
2. Why's there leathery insert on the pentaprism plate?
3. Why No video? (not confirmed yet)
4. Why 2700 bucks?
5. Why buy this over the D610, D800?

I hope they have good answers for those questions.

1. Not sure what you mean, exactly.
2. It's a throwback to certain Nikon film SLRs, which had a similar design.
3. "Pure Photography"
4. D4 sensor.
5. D4 sensor. Manual dials. Smaller. Looks?

1. nvm I was incorrect
2. Design cue from the older Nikon film SLRs.
3. Supposedly "getting back to basics" of photography. Still images, not video. (My guess, but fits with the teaser videos.)
4. Made in Japan instead of Thailand or one of their other factories. Looks like a fairly high degree of detailed work with machined metal parts on the top plate, so higher production costs. Probably expected to sell much less than other models, so higher production costs. (My guesses.)
5. There are people who prefer manual control of basic camera functions via dials and switches - not buttons, command dials and menus. There are people who prefer using manual focus lenses, and some have older Nikkors, and this camera is supposed to be "better" for working with those lenses. No video, for those who have no need/ desire for video functionality in a stills camera. A less-expensive camera body with the D4 sensor. Some will buy it strictly because of the retro looks. (All my guesses/ opinions.)

1. --> No Nikon logo.
2. Such a waste of good leather, unless we can pinch them to pick em up.
3. ...Not sure what that means.
4. Is that suppose to be an advantage? D610's is arguably better.
5. Manual dials... nope. D4 sensor... I dont think so. Looks...Oly's EM-5 or Sony's A7s look better. Smaller...OK but still not that light at 750g.

Not sold.
