OK, the shadows on the face (and also body) need some work, but otherwise it's a fine photo. I would be tempted to go the other way and really enhance the shadows to turn it into an art photo.

Interesting perspective on one of Sydney's iconic buildings:
Love this shot.

I'm pretty happy with how this one ended up. Forest Lake is a local man made lake that we regularly use for evening walks. This was one of the more impressive sunsets I've caught there. Taken with the Pentax K28/3.5 and stitched.
Although dead still water would have made for a beautiful reflection, I really like the textures caused by the ripples.

Agree - that was a lovely shot, camerons.

Michelek - it's been raining very frequently for the past two weeks - flowers popping out even though it's beginning of autumn.

Who knew bananas could be so beautiful when they are babies?

LOL

Amazing how we ascribe emotions to other creatures.

This one looks sleepy:

And these ones are unbelievably tiny - probably no bigger than the nail on my little finger, all living on a leaf:

Welcome Photoshoper. Beautiful photo.

Love the reptile pics Christine. Good to see you using some Pentax glass.

I got out to the Granite Belt again.

Panorama using the Leica 60mm macro. Just purchased PTGUI which I used to stitch 20 photos in 3 rows.

A couple with a borrowed Tamron Adaptall 90mm/2.5 macro. Great sharpness, but as the owner described, shocking flare/sensor reflection dead center if there is even a whiff of bright light. I reduced the blue saturation on these to try and compensate.

A couple with the kit zoom

Finally a few with a Leica Elmarit-R 24/2.8
This one was bracketed and run through the Enfuse plugin for LR which I just got.

There was a big thunderstorm rolling in from the left here. I was desperately trying to get some lighting to somehow blend into the sunset. Wasn't successful. Any tips for lightning? I tried adding a ND filter to increase the exposure length and increase my chances of getting it, but it just didn't show up in the photo. Not bright and/or close enough?

Beautiful photos - I really must visit this part of the country one day.

Can't really help with lightning I am afraid - not much experience taking them.

More Australiana taken on the A100:

A firmware update for Sony A7/A7r is available (links to Sony sites here: Sony A7-A7r, NEX-5T/R and NEX-6 firmware announced!!!! | sonyalpharumors)

Startup time is much shorter now (ca. 1 sec.) and I may be wrong but I think the AF is faster with Sony lenses (these using PDAF). I only have one ot them now (20mm f/2.8) which was already quick so can somebody check it with an FE lens (35mm f/2.8 or 55mm f/1.8). The difference is likely to be noticeable in dim light...

Thanks - Sony sent me a notification via Facebook last night but I was too tired to download it. Updates available for 5R, 6, 5T, 7, 7R

I am glad the NEX6 received an update as well. I am planning to take the NEX6 to Hong Kong in May :-) I think the 7R is a bit too bulky and heavy for a vacation.

Hong Kong is a paradise for buying Leica lenses, but I am not planning to buy on this trip:

This was me two years ago in Hong Kong - all I had was the NEX-5n back then:
