I have to say, this thread hs me looking at an A7r as a landscape option for my K-3 bag. I love the K-3 most of the time, but the low light , DR, and resolution numbers for the A7r, would make it worth carrying it around and getting it out of the bag when warranted. Nice small footprint, will use my k-mount lenses, whats not to like? Unlike Christine I wouldn't plan to buy any glass for it. Just my K-3 glass. The camera bag is already full. But there is room for something skinny.

I am pretty sure you will be able to shoot wildlife on it

Here's another one of my "smirky face" photos for you, shot on the FE55mm. I just realised after looking at this that I have put on a fair amount of weight. Yikes! Time to go on that diet! That's what 3 months of working does to me - I always put on weight when I work because I go for those large lunches. On the plus side, I'm earning money to buy them new lenses.

I have the Zeiss Biogon 25mm and FA*24. Neither are perfect, but both have their strengths.

Did you see the massive Sony lens announcement? I didn't want to reply to your post yesterday because I knew the announcement was coming.

All I can say is - wow, REALLY WOW.

I am hoping to eventually buy all the lenses (apart from the Ultra Wide Adapter - don't think I need that given I am planning to buy the 16-35mm).

I was going to buy the Zeiss Loxias, but I think saving my money and buying the Sony lenses is better.
Wow. I hadn't seen that. Glad I didn't buy anything. I should probably just save my money.

Will be interesting to compare the 28+adapter against the zoom. The zoom would probably suite me better though. Better start saving pennies. $1349 preorder price at B&H.

Edit: Thinking of taking advantage of the ebay 15% off thing. I have about $500 to spend. Any recommendations for a 20-24mm lens? A couple of options around my price point I've found are: Contax-Zeiss 25mm distagon, Pentax FA* 24mm
the canon fd/fdn 24/2.8 is the best ff bang for the buck, by far.

the pentax 24/2.8 is the best handling 24mm lens that i have, but it never cleans up fully on the sides... 1/3rd of the picture frame is mush, even at f/8... good for crop sensor use tho, i like the contrast that it has.

here is the fdn 24/2.8, from a shot that i did last week in smokey yosemite valley:

Thanks for the thoughts. I have read good things about the canon.

A7+CV35/1.4 Nokton

The CV35/1.4 is quite a marvel of a lens.
So small for a FF 35mm f1.4
The downside is its odd performance characteristic.
The off centre does not sharpen up well enough between f2-f5.6 and needs f8 to be good up to the edges.
This is mainly a A7+lens combi problem

Not a good shot to share but I always like to pan on motion. This is cropped tiny from the original. Shot with A7 and Sigma SuperWide II 24mm f/2.8

Cheers,
Hin

Captured on the A100 - with a bit of practice, MF using focus peaking can be faster than AF:
