You can see from the picture above that I'm using a Kipon DA-NEX adapter. It also has an aperture ring on the adapter. Works fine.

Here is my A7r with the DA40. I can confirm that it works without vignetting. I'm amazed at how shallow the DOF is compared with when I used it on the K5.
OMG that's sexy!

I've only shot some in the shop. I hope Christine doesn't mine me polluting the thread with some test photos, but here are the FA77 shots.
Not at all. Look forward to seeing more of your photos on this thread!

Thats the reason why i wanted one , I have posted in the 20mm club A 20mm/2.8 and the spoon bills in the 300mm club A*600 / 5.6 this are all jpegs straight from the camera as my LR4 does not support the raw files so i need to upgrade there not the best as i only had a small window to shoot some shots as this is the busiest time of year for me , but from testing at home with a few lenses the results are very promising ,Cheers Frank

I wonder if you would comment on the ease of focusing with the Leica M lenses. It would be nice to have a digital alternative to the overpriced, under-featured Leica digital models. (The ability to use a K-mount adapter is also quite nice.)

From a focusing and usability perspective, the Sony 7r and previous NEX cameras are a lot easier and more accurate than using a rangefinder, Due to problems with my eyes, I can't use a rangefinder very well anymore (even though my first camera was a Yashica rangefinder - but that was 35 years ago when I had perfect eyesight).

Basically you use focus peaking to get close to the optimal focus, then press the C1 button and fine tune the focus to perfection. In high DOF situations you don't even need to do any fine tuning. With practice, it only takes a few seconds to focus.

With the 7r, Sony has improved the focusing further. Pressing C1 once shows you the focus spot (area to be magnified). You can use the cursor keys to move the spot, then pressing C1 again magnifies, pressing C1 a third time increases the magnification.

I really wish Leica would release a camera without a rangefinder and use the same system as Sony. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

The only shots that showed off were those taken with the 100mm Pentax taken by Christine in my opinion.

A Nikon D800E with the 35 1.4 or the new 55 would give far better rendering in IQ and sharpness.

It would be nice to get the opinion of how the Pentax lenses render in IQ and sharpness on the Sony compared to when used on a K5 etc.

From a previous post, the following lenses are said to be full frame usable without vignetting.

- DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited
- DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited
- DA*200mm f/2.8
- DA*300mm f/4.0
- DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro

shouldn't that be 35 f2.4 instead of macro??? I am so gonna get 1 if the macro works.....

It's the DA 35 f/2.4 non macro because the lens is the same as FA 35 f/2.0 with cheaper stuff.

Apologies for no posting for a few days.

I have actually been taking thousands of shots - of test charts, in order to build Adobe Lens Profiles.

It's a long and tedious process - not just setting up and taking the shots, but processing afterwards.

Because I am using adapted lenses, there is no lens info in the EXIF which Adobe Lens Profile Creator requires to build profiles. I ended up manually patching my files to include lens information using exiftool. The RAW files also have to be converted to DNG. The Raw files are so large Adobe Lens Profile Creator runs out of memory (even though my system has 32GB of RAM) on Windows - no problems running it in OSX (but it's very slow since it's single threaded).

I finally finished creating my profiles yesterday (RAW and JPEG) yesterday night.

The workflow in processing photos is also more complicated. I have to manually record lens information for shots, and then manually patch them into the Raw file prior to processing. Fortunately, I found an application on the Mac called Exif Editor that allows me to create presets for each lens to simplify the process, and I use the tagging feature in OSX Mavericks to tag which files belong to which lens. Things will be simpler once Apple releases an update to allow preview of the 7r raw files in Finder.

Hopefully I'll post some photos taken on Voigtländer lenses soon.

Orchard Road (around ION Orchard) at night in Singapore with the A7r and Voightlander 15mm. Shooting in B&W because of purple sides.

The Pentax FA77 around Orchard Road at night. The A7r is great at night as it turns night to day. These were taken with focus peaking. Light levels were low enough that most SLRs would struggle to focus. Might have been easier if I were using my Panasonic GX7, which can focus down to -4 EV, but the shots would have been grainy.
