Some comments below by a dissatisfied A7R user - You guys share many of these concerns?

3. To review an image, you have to zoom into the image to a pixel level, then spend a lifetime zooming out to the desired level.
??? never had this problem, sounds like operator error.

12. Only 1 SD slot (its already killed 2 SD cards).
rubbish, lol

13. Needs an adapter to use any lens of worth.
the sony fe55 is world-class, and the new fe70-200 looks promising... everything else in the fe lineup has compromises, i would only buy those lenses for autofocus use.

14. The adapter is huge!
much smaller and lighter than a dslr.

QuoteOriginally posted by chezpentax Quote
15. Startup time from cold is 4 seconds (even with firmware update).
not on my a7r, it boots up immediately; but then i only use legacy slr lenses on dumb adapters.

16. AF is bad!

it takes breathtaking images; but its unusable and those images are rare. Rare in the sense that you have no idea whether its going to be usable or not. This camera is a point and shoot with a professional sensor. Yes, it can work, but its a lottery.
i get very few oof shots; but i don't use autofocus.

that guy sounds like your typical ancient fossil nikon shooter... they only know how to use autofocus.

after thom hogan published his horrible "review" on the a7r; you know, the one where he never mentioned the a7r evf... i had this pm conversation with him, and he told me that nikon users didn't care about manual focusing.

i think that he was right, and this proves it.

Is that your daughter? Looks lovely.

Discovered this cat in Annandale - it was very curious about me, but as soon as I pressed the shutter button a few times, it became nervous.

Okay, so sometimes the shutter noise on the A7r can be a tad intimidating!

Thanks.
No it was a paid shoot.
A genre I wanted to explore (esp. the planning and lighting ) but never ever found time to do.

Very well captured, good control of front light vs back light.

The only comment I want to make is the light from the left side is just a tad bluish.

Winner of this year's Harbour Sculpture exhibition at Clarkes Point Reserve - "Meeting Places"

Captured this with a 10 second exposure - the horizontal lines at the back are from a boat passing through

Any body used the CONTAX Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 with their A7 ,
i'm happy with my OM 85mm zuiko f2 , but could do with something a little faster ,
i can get a good deal on the CZ planar , i was just wondering if its worth getting .

Don't have the 85mm Planar but I have used the Canon version on a 1D.

My impression - heavy lens.

Image quality - documentary rather than artistic. Works well on Canon because it suits the Canon "style" of images.

Planar is a nice no nonsense lens design - I have the Planar 50mm and it produces reliable images but won't "jump at you."

PS - loved your Summicron R 50mm photos

Looks very good to me!
I also have the Sony A7r, for about a month now. I really wanted the Pentax FF that's just not coming, but that has changed. The A7r is a true powerhouse in a delightfully portable package.
I currently use it with Zeiss ZK lenses through a voigtländer adapter, MF of course, 28 to 85mm. But beyond that I would really want a generic AF lens, and this 70-200mm f4 seems a gem, portable and high quality.
So please keep posting images from this combo!

Chris
