Nikkor P.C. 105/2.5 LTM

Now this is an odd one to me.
It seems like there is some sort of conspiracy to not talk about this lens.
Its darn good imo.
Odd in the sense that its one of the lenses that started to make Nikon famous in RF days and has a legendary status in those circles.
Its also fairly common.
And yet so few ppl mention it.
The match to the Summicron 90/2 of its day.

Less common Sonnar design (nowadays), rounded aperture blades and a nicely built hefty lens.
Sharp from f2.5 and a nice bokeh imo.
All at a fraction of the price of a similar lineage Summicron 90/2.
I really think that this lens deserves to be mentioned, bought and used more that it is now.

Hi Christine. Been accessing this forum now since July 2014 with great interest. I think in an earlier post you mentioned using the Sony a6000 and I am wondering what you feel about using that camera and the value of owning both the a7 and the a6000. The price, size and performance of the a6000 is attracting a lot of attention including mine. Would appreciate knowing your own thoughts and experience of these cameras. Thanks.

The a6000 has an amazing AF (hint: set it to Continuous AF mode and be amazed! I leave it in this mode all the time).

I thought the a7r had pretty decent AF, but it is completely outclassed by the a6000. I think next year Sony will update the a7 series with the same technology. Can't wait!

Exactly! I sold my A6000 for other reasons but it was just outstanding to work with. A A7R with the AF and other improvements of the A6000 would be a killer camera. Imagine what would happen if the the new A7/A7r were priced as aggressively as the A6000 was when introduced!

Pretty plain that it is a high performing camera but with an APS-C sensor and this sitting alongside your a7R. Do you use both but for differing reasons? What lenses do generally use? Did you buy lenses for it or do you stick with the lenses that also fit the a7R?

The a6000 is my partner's camera. Generally only one lens - Zeiss 16-70 but occasionally the Sony 10-18. It's a nice vacation camera. I haven't really used it that much - I still have my NEX6 (as well as NEX-F3 and NEX-5n.

I tend to use the a7r for local shoots and the NEX6 overseas (I find the a7r a bit too heavy to pack together with the Zeiss lenses).

I did a quick check on my LR catalog and so far I have taken 15892 images on the a7r (the shutter count is higher due to deleted images) and about 28411 on the NEX6.

I find the NEX6/a6000 form factor to be nearly perfect for me so I will probably replace the NEX6 eventually (a7000?). I tend to find my cameras last for about 30,000 shots so the NEX6 is nearly end of life. The on/off button is starting to get a bit sticky.

I have bought almost all the Sony E mount lenses (apart from super zooms) so I have a pretty big lens collection for APS-C. On the NEX6, I tend to use the Sony 35mm f1.8 and 50mm f1.8 - they are smaller and lighter than the Zeiss FE lenses and the quality is pretty good, obviously not as good as the FE but easily comparable to Canikon lenses.

This is outstanding. Naive question: is it HDR?

Thanks.

No, pretty much straight off the camera.

The FE 16-35mm plus a&r just has an outstanding dynamic range.

Here's a photo (NOT HDR) of shooting straight into the sun
