Originally posted by lesmore49 Good report on your new Russian lens. I have a very old MTO 500mm lens. I don't have a camera body with the right mount to fit it, but It seems to be a very ruggedly built lens and the wooden case it came in something to treasure in itself.
Hope you keep on posting pics from this lens. As a side note I see that there is a Russian made newer rangefinder out in the market.
Zenit? I've yet to see on one for sale.
Few more from Zenitar.
All wide open.......This lens really shines at night or low light, not so much at sunlight.
There are a few negative reviews of this lens, as I suspected they are bs, simple as that (or some lemon).
No other lens I can think of is as good as this one at 0.95.
Wide open it's as sharp or more so then Leica version and focus peaking works 100% accurate on my A7 II. If everything is not static then yes, it's easy to miss focus but that's the case with all other fast lenses.
Excellent fit and finish (as mentioned) and flare resistance? Well, it's still a 0.95, not made to shoot in to sunlight.
Yes, it is big and heavy but I'm o k with that, it's not meant for hickin
. And for me it's not even noticeable.
I don't do video and I'd prefer a clickable aperture, that is the only minor negative I can say about it.
