Nikon J1 coming up on Amazon Deals tomorrow - pass or get?

There is a J1 Amazon deal coming up at 5:50am Pacific Time. It seems like an interesting alternative/competitor to the Q7.

Anyone have one that they enjoy using? I like the idea of a bigger sensor but it seems there is no focus peaking so adapting my K-mount lenses as telephoto lenses is not practical.

I see that they are going for $199 around the web. What would be your "get it" price?

If the J1 is the oiginal Nikon 1 camera, I shot a white one. Incredibly fast af with the standard zoom. Don't think it matches up well with non Nikon lenses. No circuitry in lens = no exposure meter, if I remember correctly. Same as Nikon entry level dslrs. Only the expensive Nikon electronic adapter ( with correct series Nikon lens) fixes this.

Q is more mini dslr in controls and features, while Nikon is more menu diving PnS.
thanks

I got myself the J1 on UK Amazon as a camera I can pop into a casual jacket and I have to say it is a really decent camera. If you want to keep it compact go for the version bundled with the 10mm lens. I have the 10-30mm zoom version.
The sensor size is smallish; a 2.7 crop factor compared to 35mm so the 10mm lens is the equivalent of a 27mm lens in old money. As Barondla indicated a lot of the controls are in the menus but I find as I use the camera more often it is getting a much easier to do things manually. That said the auto settings are very reliable, the autofocus is lightning fast and once you switch off the default sound effects it's practically silent.
If you are looking for shallow depth of field, the small sensor means this is hard to achieve, so if that's your thing look for a bigger sensor system.
As far as I have read the J2 is a minor upgrade of the J1 and was quickly replaced by the J3 which had a high pixel count and inclusion of those rubbish effects filters so beloved by people who post online.
So unless the J2 to is close in price to the J1 I would always go with the J1
