There are many that are doing that but since my PC and Mac Pro both each have 30" 2560x1600 resolution and I also view on my 4K UHD TV I mostly shoot 4K unless I want 96fps for slow motion that is only in 1080p. Here is a screenshot from my 4K display :

OK. Now to the next question:
So far as TV viewing is concerned why?

Bigger is better, more is better - mostly.

It does make a difference on large screens. Large being 60+ inches.

The bandwidth to broadcast this is into the future I think. Of course most cable companies will use audio and video compression as they do now, so 4k media is where you'll see your best stuff.

@jogiba: any hot pixel issues w/ the GH4?
Too bad you don't shoot stills...I'm still curious if it can do the K-5/K-3's black cat out of badly underexposed black frame trick :-)

4K UHD video of record 10,000HP Funny Car run !

Shot the record NHRA Funny Car run last night at the NHRA Summernationals in 4K UHD with the Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 lens. The two Funny Cars put out a total of 20,000 HP !

QuoteQuote:
Cruz Pedregon raced to the Funny Car qualifying lead Friday in the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

Pedregon, a two-time Funny Car season champion, powered his Toyota Camry to a track-record performance of 3.959 seconds at 310.48 mph. Pedregon's time, the quickest ever in the 10,000-horsepower category, will become an NHRA national record if he can certify the run by posting another time within one percent of the mark.

During the day the clouds would get in front of the sun just when the green light was coming on like in the following video.

BTW NHRA posted their first 4K drag racing video on youtube :

QuoteQuote:
This video is a must watch! "Fire Breathing Monsters" is an aggressive and noisy -- yet surprisingly intimate -- tribute to the cars that run in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. Commissioned by Jim Jannard, founder of RED Digital Cinema, on behalf of the NHRA, this seven-minute documentary spotlights the uniquely American passion for speed.

**This video was originally shot in 4K. If you would like to watch it in 4K on YouTube, go to settings above, click on Quality, and click on 2160p 4K. However, you must have enough bandwidth to support 4K streaming videos.**

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 75 mm f/1.8 ED review

QuoteQuote:
The performance in the frame centre can be only called brilliant. Already at the maximum relative aperture the lens goes to a very high level of over 64 lpmm. Stopping down the aperture only improves the situation further – near f/4.0 you are on a practically record level as the lens gets to 82 lpmm there. Taking into account measurement errors, the images generated by the Olympus are as sensationally sharp like those of the Voigtlander 0.95/25 or the Panaleica 1.4/25.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 75 mm f/1.8 ED Image resolution :

The 75mm F1.8 is the fastest and sharpest m4/3rd telephoto lens available for the GH4 by far. Here is a comparison with the Pentax 77mm F1.8 LTD :

that's a brilliant, well-edited piece of work, thx for the post.

flip side is that it also fails to some extent, as a hardcore drag racing video, because 99% of it was shot in film-style mode... that, and it's basically just a bunch of talking heads doing a promo piece.

the only real zoom shot in there looked like it might have been out of focus, when the car blew up in a fireball.

we have to recognize what's wrong with other productions, in order to improve what we shoot and edit.
