I want to like this camera, and I like most Fuji products, but their history of quality control issues (light leak problems with this camera) have kept me from purchasing anything Fuji. I went through three copies of the X20 and had to return them all due to dust and problems within the glass. There was also the white orb issue on the X10. That's three strikes for Fuji in my book, so they're out for me.

All the brands including large format have some issue, no wonder there's a move back to film

But the K-5 oil issues were OK? What about the K-7 vibration issues? Or the SDM failure issues. Pentax SDM issues were much larger than any Fuji issue I can remember.

I have the X-T1, 18-55, 35 f1.4 and Zeiss 12. I sold my A7 to get it and have zero regrets. The EVF, build, feel, focus speed and Jpegs are outstanding. The lenses are superb even wide open. This is also a mirrorless that can track action unlike the a7 with my daughters.

This is a shot from an X-E2 at 6400 wide open on the 55-200 to show the sharpness. This image was cropped a little.

I returned mine. Loved the form factor and the retro feel/control. But found it too redundant with my K3 and too expensive to buy for a fourth mount as I'm already supporting Q, K, and F

Eagerly looking forward to the reply.

Is X-e2 the holy grail? You gave up full frame for crop sensor? That's not normal behaviour.

By the way, are these ooc jpegs?

These were pretty much Jpeg or raw converted to Jpeg in camera with the internal raw converter.

I didn't get along with the a7. Start up time was slow compared to the X-T1 which is instant and I like AF which is not as accurate or fast like the X-T1. I don't "need" full frame and like everyone says, it didn't make me a better photographer.

This is a Fuji thread in the non-Pentax forum and I never said anything about the Pentax issues being ok. In fact, I don't recall mentioning them at all.

Yes it is. Which is why I assume you use Pentax.

Tell me what brand do you use that has had fewer QC issues than Fuji?

After returning the X20 three times, I ended up purchasing a Samsung NX20 instead and have been very pleased with it.

You win. I never expected you to pick the one brand that has never sold enough cameras to ever have wide spread problems. I like what Samsung has done the the NX line and hope they continue to improve. They have a great concept.

I have the Fuji X100s (same sensor as the XT-1) in addition to my Pentax K5 and a bunch of lenses. I'm not selling/switching Pentax over to Fuji as I don't see a dramatic difference in 16mp quality between the two. I have not switched to K3 yet as I don't need the megapixels and I don't really have an issue focusing with the K5 (I manual focus a lot anyway). Fuji does surpass the K5's sensor in sharpness and high iso performance. The difference is less in RAW but pretty dramatic in JPEG's. Fuji has excellent (probably the best) JPEG's with the film simulation. The 23mm on the X100s is better than my DA 16-50 taking images at the same length. (It's a prime). Another "feature" of the Fuji Jpegs's is file size, they are often only 3-5mb which is tiny for jpeg's out of modern cameras. I don't bother with RAW on the Fuji, it's jpegs are that good. I would rather have an EVF at this point than prism, if you haven't seen a good one check out the XT-1 (X100s is slightly laggy but has a optical as well which is really big and bright like a full frame) EVF has come a long way and has big advantages over prisms like seeing your changes in real time and much easier manual focus, worlds easier. I think the hybrid viewfinder is pretty much awesome and I do think mirrorless is the future with how good these EVF's are getting. I'm not ditching the Pentax for Fuji unless the XT-1 evolves into something amazing on the next round. In the end I get great shot's from either, I do enjoy the X100s for a "grab and go" light camera with a really cool viewfinder and old fashioned dials.

Fuji is a bit sharper and bit better in the ISO dept. At ISO lower than 800 the Fuji is just sharper and I prefer it's colors strait from the camera. Results would be similar from the XT-1 at 23mm. This is the best 16mp out there imo at this time and probably the best high iso APS-C. In the end lightroom render's the difference negligible (including FF other than DOF) for the most part so pick the camera that handles good and inspires you to use it!

Here is a ISO 6400 RAW shot from both. (negligible imo up to this iso)

Fuji on the left, Pentax right (DA*16-50 at 23mm)

ISO 6400 1/160th 2.8 on both

JPEG ISO 12800 and 25600 (Fuji max) strait from the camera, pretty dramatic JPEG difference. (I honestly never shoot this high an ISO with either, 6400 is about as high as I ever need).

Yes it does, but look at the prices of those lenses! :P
The lenses are on the higher side but they are stellar lenses. top flight lenses are never cheap. even the 18-55 kit is a heathy step above the competition. the 2 kit lenses that are cheap (16-50 and 50-230 ) zooms someone forgot to tell Fuji you lower the glass quality. they are plastic and lightweight and softer at the corners but are very sharp stepped down a stop or 2, and the pair can be had from ebay sellers in asia for under $500 Canadian - I will probably pick up both at some point so there is a light easy zoom option for my wife - until then she can zoom with her feet like me
