Live Stream: Watch Sony Announce the 4K Full-Frame 12MP A7s Live at NAB

Personally I don't care.

I don't know... but I think 16MP is the least for new DSLR, and ideally I would like to have 24MP (for photo).

maybe they don't want to eat into sale of A7and A7r...

I second this, there was a lot of BS and the camera preview lasted only few seconds. But 4K video and 50-400000 ISO range is something.

they did announce the camera! at the very end of the presentation.

A7s it is... with 4k, but I don't think I hear the guy mention anything about MP (maybe I missed) ....
But I think I hear it is A-mount......that's confusing!

video archive here: http://new.livestream.com/SonyProfessional/NAB2014/videos/47341386

A7s start at 11:30.

No you did not miss it - They did not mention it - So the same camera with 4K video. With amplified ISO. I am not very excited at all. Oh well an hour gone.

So much Sony pre-scripted video presentations and you could really feel almost all the presenters were camera nervous

Not all but atleast who were put on camera on live tv were.

IR has already a presentation of that camera. Interesting, 4K video only connected to an external device. But 12 Mp on an FF chip, could be a charm for astrophotographers. If,.... but we will see.

just re-watch the presentation, they didn't mention anything about MP.
and they said it is Alpha-mount, which include both E and A mount.

409k iso.... wow. starry night shot will be incredible....

Basically these huge ISO figures should mean and extended actual suitable for use ISO range. That's pretty impressive if it's safe to use up to say and ISO of 50,000 etc.
It's a bit like 'digital zoom' on a camcorder, where you can technically make those figures huge, but it's pointless in practise.

I'd love to see Pentax enter this if they have a good partnership with Sony for sensors etc. I would be nice to see Pentax feature for video also, more than just people using legacy Pentax glass on someone elses bodies.

I donīt understand why would an enthusiast or Professional use ISO values that are not achieved by hardware. Most Sensors native range goes from ISO100 to ISO1600 (through hardware amplification), after that itīs all software amplified. If shooting RAW, as most enthusiast and professionals, why would I let the camera do the post processing for higher than native ISO values rather than do it in my workflow as the rest of adjustments?
What I get out of the big numbers is that the Dynamic range will be better at high (native) ISO (as in ISO 400 - 800 - 1600)
