Hope to make it there someday.

Was on the site of the great David Burnett and noticed he has a Holga gallery, including some from the Olympics. Interesting to see what a toy camera can do in the hands of a master.

I had to shoot a couple of macro/close-up shots the other day and grabbed my Nikon Coolpix S9900 as it was right next to me in my desk drawer.

It didn't do too badly using the on-board flash and the macro setting on a camera that will fit into my shirt pocket and has a 30x zoom!

The shots were to make sure the battery cap was the correct type before I shipped it off to another forum member who had acquired an old Spotmatic II that was missing it's battery cap. I have a FUBAR'd Spotmatic II in a box of old camera parts and the cap was no use to me anymore so I sent it to him to help him out.

I like those shots Paul....Grapevine is not what it used to be when it was a sleepy little dead town.

Yep, that's what the Otis Appreciation Society is all about too! "You done good"....as Otis would say.

Paul, here are a few from Hico Tx .......a little country town trying to attract tourists. We took a drive down there yesterday to check out the new tires on the TT and ended up eating an early dinner there. It's a pretty neat little town, actually more interesting than Granbury and though not thriving as a tourist mecca, it is worth a trip. Plenty of unusual old stores and buildings. The city park is wonderful and the Chocolate Factory is a delight to shop and...get fat!

All X20 shots...No need for my big ol' bulky K1 when a Toy Camera can get 'er done just as well!
Man Street

Lots of these on old walls downtown

The Jersey Lily Cafe......from 1-10 I'd rate it a 4...but it won't kill you.

Mrs Rupert lost her smile after the first bite...no kidding!

It's a nice drive on country roads to get there and a relaxed atmosphere in the town. I know the town well, my great grandmother lived there and my great aunt as well as several other relatives on my Mom's side. I used to fish/swim in the river by the park when I was a kid. There wasn't much else to do there, still isn't except to admire the old historical buildings and information on its past history, which is very interesting.

Regards!

Thanks Rupert, and nice set of shots with the X20. All I can remember about Hico is that we would pass thru it on the way to San Antone. Isn't that where 281 connects? (We always take 281 down to SA, avoiding I-35 at all costs). We'll have to stop and take a look next time - love the old wall mural ads

Yes, it's how we go to San Antone too..it's the best way. Next time stop and look around, it's kind of a neat place for a short visit.

Nice X10 shot....so what's in the gallery?

Regards!

Riding with a buddy on the roads where the first Mad Max/Road Warrior movie was filmed. They had no permits for their speedy stunts.

I've replaced the sky on this shot with the Samsung Mini-NX ... the usual small sensor problem of small dynamic range. :-)
