I went for a walk this afternoon, past a valley called Waldridge Dene (I live in Waldridge Parish) where I used to play and ride my little junior-sized motor-cross bike when I was a young lad (40+ years ago!). Back then, significant chunks of it were cleared and there were lots of folks who used to ride their bikes there. It was great fun. For many years now, though, motorcycles haven't been allowed there - I think because it's a conservation area - and it has become a sort of country park, albeit a natural one that isn't tended in any way. It's pretty wild and all of the previously-cleared areas are now fully populated with good-sized trees again. The next sunny day we get, I'm going to hike through it... It looks very lush and inviting, viewed from the edge of the valley. Photo below shows just one small section:
And, whilst walking along, I picked up this conifer cone for possible use in a future photo. Haven't decided how I'll use it yet. For now, a very simple monochrome pseudo-macro shot:
Both photos taken with the Canon PowerShot A1200, shot raw using CHDK and processed in RawTherapee...
