I've never done the randomise thing. These came out really nicely

Here's a couple from the Nikon P610 which has fast become my favourite camera: These birds visit every day because I keep fresh water available for them.

Thanks!

You get some great results from the 610. I am very tempted to get one.

In all honesty I have been amazed at the IQ of the JPGs from the P610. Of course I do lots of post processing, but the out of camera JPGs are nothing to sneeze at. And it's so much lighter than most. I had a P100 once and hated it. I was reticent about this one, but a friend bought the P600 for her trip to Turkey and Greece, a couple of years back, and I was so impressed, I was out getting this only a year later. No RAW? It really doesn't matter.

They are impressive for sure! I'm thinking on getting one for travel this summer.

I just noticed you have the FZ1000. Could you please compare it to the 610? I am interested in both.Seems like the IQ of the FZ would be better but the 610 is lighter, cheaper, and longer zoom.

Sue, those are some impressive shots, esp with a "toy" camera!

The IQ of the FZ is definitely better, and it even has a very usable digital zoom which gives almost the same focal length as the P610. However at similar LONG focal lengths, the P610 is marginally better. Its very well balanced in the hand. Its also BIG, so someone with small hands might find it a bit of a pain. The viewfinder is big and bright, the rear LCD screen isn't very big. Its supposed to be 3" but it seems to be an odd kind of ratio. It doesn't matter though, your eyes will nearly never be off the viewfinder. Its very heavy. I've found that I can't shoot with it for long (I have arthritis of wrists and hands) but its nice to have along. That said, I'm likely going to have to sell mine.

I think that when you make a choice, you'll have to do it based on the photography you think you'll want to do with it. I bought the P610 for birds, and the FZ for everything else. I seem to be only shooting birds lately...

These are FZ shots

Also I posted some shots in photographers lounge (ex serious compacts) when I first got it. Take a look at https://www.photographerslounge.org/threads/fz1000-opportunity-arose.35730/

Thanks, Paul. I'm enjoying your x10 shots, too. Almost at the point of wanting an x something.

I'm back from the North! finally I have fixed internet again... couldn't any wifi/4g/3g signal in our accommodation it's been quite isolating!

I made a trip to Edinburgh while I was that far north, sadly it was too wet to use my Fuji's...... In my mind I was thinking I should have bought that K5IIs...... I thought it was a wasted trip for photography! Luckily I won a GoPro at Christmas that could survive the rain and snow, sadly mixed results using it as a stills camera but got a few to keep on the hard drive.

A very grey day! View of the back of the castle.

Selfie....

A couple form on of the museums.

All in all apart form getting soaked it was nice to take in a bit of culture!

Cheers, Steve
