You're getting great results with the LX3, Paul. I think it would be almost the perfect CCD compact for me except for the one problem of not having a viewfinder. The only way I've ever been able to shoot using any sort of live view screen is with a loupe attached to the camera, and once you add one of those it isn't a compact anymore.
My favourite of all the digital compacts I've ever used is the Canon A1200, but sadly mine is bricked (my own fault) and I haven't replaced it yet.
