Why buy the K3 over the new Sony α77 II

This camera is a beast, the kit lens is lovely, video works pretty well and price is going to be on par with the K3. Pentax?

Simple... the buttons are in the wrong places... I'll likely delete many photos by accident.

Personally I'd go for K3 because:

1. OVF
2. Ergonomics
3. UI
4. Lenses
5. Bigger LCD, dual card slots.

Also, I'm a fan of K3 (as well as K5) design, Sony looks just funny to me.

For me it is rather simple. It has Sony on it. I've been burned by that company so many times I will not buy anything from them just on principle. YMMV

Actually looks pretty impressive. Seems Pentax no longer owns the APS-C market.

I won't be saying that until I see people using them. One lens does not a system make.

If I was starting now I'd consider it for sure but I'm invested in the K mount system and don't want to re-purchase my lenses (if the equivalents are even available).

What jatrax said. What Sony will do next runs the full spectrum from new FF A-mount bodies to discontinuation of all future A-mount efforts. They hurt me too which is why I'm here!

Oh look, Sony's camera du jour. Wonder what mount is going to be obsoleted this week?

Why not buy A77 II? How about this, because Sony has no glass and work flow with adapted lenses sucks? BTW, has Sony fixed the incredibly loud shutter yet? Fixing the "nervous" EVF would be nice too.

Steve

(...really likes the Sony A77 line, but feels that it is not a mature product...waiting for the A78, A7, or whatever the third-generation product will be called...)

Edit: Oops...got mixed up regarding my Sony products. Wrong camera.

The "camera du jour approach is Sony's version of continuous quality/product improvement.

Because Sony no longer has DSLRs. I am no fan of EVFs. They kill battery life.

'Tis a shame. I actually liked the Sony DSLRs when they first came out. Considered making a switch. Glad now that I did not.

It's an impressive camera. If I didn't have the k-mount, I would have made the comparison if I was to buy a semi-pro APSC.

That being said, without having held the A-77 II, I absolutely love how the k-3 fits in my hand. Just a fantastic fit, and not that much larger than my k-x. I've played with the previous A-77 before and didn't really find it that impressive besides the 12FPS.

True. They have, what? Four mounts now?

I'd say Sony are able to make pretty darn good cameras, and I'm glad Pentax has access to their sensor, but that camera is lacking an OVF, the Pentax ergonomics, a fantastic and relatively inexpensive lens lineup, WR across the range.

Lets see, 1800 dollars for the kit, not as much ISO range as the K3, no selectable AA filter, I have too much in Pentax to switch brands, no OVF, and I could come up with more. Sure, it's impressive, but I'd say the K3 is still more impressive.
