New Canon 10-18mm APS-C Lens

Canon just announced a cheap ultra-wide zoom for APS-C: 10-18mm F4.5-5.6.

Assuming the image quality is decent, it would be awesome if Pentax could also release something like this as part of the DA L series, since other AF ultra-wide lenses are really pricey. I'm actually surprised that nobody thought of this type of lens earlier...of course beginners want something longer than the 18-55mm kit lens, so why not something wider?

"A circular, 7-blade aperture" Ahh, that is what my Sigma 10-20/4-5.6 is missing... Are they gonna make one for Pentax?

Odd that it generally takes some big bucks to shoot wider than a kit lens. I agree Adam, a DA-L ultra wide would be great. Even more great would be a WR ultra wide.

Image stabalised and STM focusing, thats a lot of spec for $299. Ricoh, are you watching?! I would love it if Ricoh released a WR UWA.

Nice. The 10-22 of Cannon's is very good. Probably better in some ways than the 16-35 2.8 and 17-40's are for their mount.

yes i would like the wider focal lengths too, am thinking hard on getting a 12-24, but going by the mtf chart for the 10-18 it may just be sharp in the corners, that could be a big plus for that lens, consumer lens or not
