But for $700, its hard to complain, the camera that beat it, the GH4 is over twice the price.
The GH4 shoots cinema 4K (4096x2160) and the only other camera that does that is the Canon EOS 1D C that cost $10,000 and was $12,000 before the GH4 came out.

Thats got to be embarrassing for Canikon. They are looking more and more like two dinosaurs eating their last meal. But they still have all that wonderful glass.

I don't know much about the GH4 or the video for that matter - so can someone take a slide out of the video and use it as a still photo??

To be fair, the 1D C is a full frame camera with all the bells and whistles of the 1DX. While the 4k implementation of the GH4 is probably as good or better due to not pixel binning, it's still a APSC sensor.

Thanks Joe - amazing detailed images. The news and media folks are going to love it, no need for separate stills.

Okay, I have to say you have made your point - with still photos this good who needs burst mode on a camera!

I am starting to think 4K/12megapixels may be all that anyone really needs on a camera - 99% of the time.

Any resolution higher than that is only useful for very specific situations. I don't do much cropping, and I have never printed any of my photos - they are always viewed at screen resolution.

Maybe I need to rethink my view of the A7s - I think a future A7s successor with native 4K capture may well be the perfect camera.
