Yesterday's squirrel:

And today's squirrel, after I went out this afternoon and threw out peanuts, sunflower seeds and bread, refilled the sunflower seed feeder and provided fresh water.

One player in SIC said they've become camera shy is why I don't see as many as before. I'm sticking with that theory.

Another old picture of Rat Tail

I googled this hairless tail issue at the time and it was definitely a sign of a health issue but the little critter was just as active as any other. Of course, I had no idea whether the hair was just falling out or just growing back.

Reservoir Park Today

This squirrel was purty fur up this tree. And with good reason. There were a couple of new dogs present in addition to the usual squirrel chasers, Lincoln and Wyatte. These were good sized Black and Tan hounds going nuts barking and jumping incessantly trying to get at this squirrel. At least Linky and Wyatte recognize when they have no chance and will sit and watch. But these two new dogs seemed to lack that ability. They got each other worked up to the point they were getting aggressive toward a couple smaller dogs on the ground out of frustration. Pack prey drive? The owner wasn’t picking up on this as he was playing fetch with someone else’s puppy. My friend let him know he had best get his charges under control. Which, to his credit, he called them and got them to sit in a “time out” and calm down.

I caught one with one of the peanuts I put out for it, only one I have seen this year but the Pigeons seem to be enjoying the nuts in the absence of a squirrel.

That baby looks like a baby opossum, not a raccoon. I raised one of those once. Are you sure those news people knew what animal that was on the ground?

I hope the "rescue" people know what they're working with.

I don't know, I should hope so. But baby raccoons have the stripes their parents have and their noses aren't long like the one in the photo, their tails aren't bare either, like the one in the photo. Maybe the news person named it wrong, not the rescuer. It wouldn't be the first time a journalist got a name wrong.

Two more shots from my SIC this month.

Just before he jumped off.

I've got another series of them, that has a short story to go with them but I have to wait until my hands are more steady so I can process them and type out the story to go with it.

A good thing about Pentax IBIS is that you can at least capture the shots now.
{you've been doing a fine job so far}

True!

And another for you today, taken for yesterday's SIC:

Some one wanted to know how I taught them how to use a litter box.

i said it was tricky!

And just a FYI, if anyone might be interested, in the near future, a moderator who has permission from Adam, the administrator here, is going to have Rupert's camera gear for sale in the Marketplace, for Rupert's wife Gail, who is not computer savvy. If you'd like to own a piece of Rupert's gear keep an eye out or let me know and I'll let you know when it goes up for sale.
