Some shots from a recent 1 hour long session with one to three squirrely friends on the lawn, of which I think I have only shot one and the same squirrel all the time.

Just before I stopped filling the bird feeder, this guy was pretending he wasn't interested in it - and then suddenly was.

I have enjoyed seeing in the backyard what I thought was one black squirrel (Eastern gray squirrel, I think) with a red/brown tail. However, as seen in this photo, there are at least two such squirrels in the neighborhood.

When I lived in Toronto, an incredibly aggressive back squirrel took over our back yard. I once saw her bonk one of my cats on the head. She had two offspring, one black one grey.

Up here, they're usually red. We get a black every now and then, but they don't seem to last long. A couple days at the feeder at most.

And of course this guy.

A grey up on the alert. Flash used because of clouds moving in late in the day in preparation for overnight showers.
At least here the red squirrels stay near stands of pine trees as they like to tear apart the cones to eat the seeds. Sometimes they build up piles of pine cone scales at favorite dining venues.

Nibble, nibble, nibble. What's the point of having huge incisors if you don't use them?
