Another example of a Squirrel digging. In this case, something instinctive must drive him, because there is food nearby on the surface if he would only look.

That snack must be a little on the spicy side.

The only change I have made this Winter is to fill the plastic cup {that I use the actually fill the feeders} on the deck instead of filling it in the yard,
and suddenly the deck has become very popular with the squirrels, even the railing on which I do not spill anything up on.

This squirrel was willing to face away from me as he ate, but he kept an eye on me.

A couple I took today while testing an elderly Canon EF 100-300 f5.6 in Kensington Gardens

I had another one run up to me and climb onto my leg, but this lens doesn't focus below 2 meters unless you mess around with a switch etc. and I didn't manage to get a shot before he ran off again.

A children's song says "Does eat oats .... And little Lambs eat ivy".
We don't have any oats or lambs, but the ivy my Mother planted to hold this hillside in place turned out to be a regular attraction to Deer in the area;
this is the first time I've seen Squirrels up there too - I wonder what he found attractive to him?
