Me too, I accidentally bought salted peanuts. They aren't good for the birds and I'll have to eat them all. I'm thinking of putting sawdust on the floor and drinking beer from pitchers. Apparently that helps.

This guy (upper center) always gives me an earful whenever I visit this park. Maybe I need to bring a peace offering? (iPhone 5)

For sure you need to bring a peace offering. These guys have expectations.

Nice one Paul...and you need to listen to Uncle Norm....you can't go around squirrels without treats! Everyone knows that!

Trying out the K1 SR today...this little guy helped me a lot. He stayed out there a long time and was very still just as I asked.

1/25 @ 450 mm handheld

1/40 @ 500mm handheld

1/125 @ 410mm handheld

1/125 @ 410mm handheld

He stayed out there for almost 10 minutes and I gave him a coffee can full of roasted peanuts for his services. I think he will be willing to pose most anytime now!

JML69...Love 'em! Come back and post more, we need all we can get!

Regards!

Couple from this evening. I have to do some AF fine adjustments on my zoom lenses. Both aren't tack sharp on the long end.

As you can see, the nose isn't in sharp focus.

I was wondering when we were going to start seeing some pictures from your K-1.
Thanx!
Good start!

Thank you Otis!

I finally got my tripod setup the way I used to do a few years ago. I have a window that faces the back yard where the feeders and the feeding station for birds and squirrels come to eat. There is no screen on this window and it's wide open, I can shoot from the comfort of my home. Since the Window is considered an awning window, I can shoot between the panes of glass instead of having to shoot through dirty glass. I wash it but it catches dust like crazy and within a few days it's dusty and dirty again.

I shoot through my double pane glass most of the time....they need cleaning right now. Some glass makes little difference, some does. Reflections are my biggest problem, but only when the sun is in the East. Lots of shots would be missed if I went outside. Birds would spook and squirrels would swarm me looking for a handout!

Whatever works is the best way to shoot. Another problem here is the damn mosquitoes! They will eat you alive outside this time of year.

Regards!

...and fine images they are Norm! But.....I am betting you don't have a bacon eating squirrel?

They love bacon! Of course, they all love corn!

Here's a 1/160 handheld 450mm squirrel at ISO 12800...didn't scare him at all!

Of course the 12800 setting didn't scare him - he couldn't see the setting.
You certainly are making good use of that K-1!

Question: are you taking these pictures through the window, or are you outside for them?
