Nice details in your squirrel photos Tim. TFS

Norm, that's a king squirrel? How can you tell? Love the shot with the snow under it.

Got one shot today. Sigma 400mm plus Sigma 1.4x TC.

I like the light/shadow combination

how the sunlight is highlighting part of the squirrel, and part of the fallen leaves, with the unlit side of the squirrel almost a shadow and then the stronger shadows casted by the unseen objects blocking the sun from highlighting the other fallen leaves

(just me I guess)

I used the Pentax K 3 + HD PENTAX-DA 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR

There's prime spot on the feeder right next to a tree...squirrels become more and more stressed the further they are from the tree. So it's a prime spot. He goes to that spot every day. He defends it, and anything within 6 feet of he spot from all the there critters, Squirrel, Chipmunk, Blue Jay, he doesn't even leave before I could reach out and grab him if I wanted to. He leaves a bit quicker when a border collie approaches.

Here he is on his spot with his tree right behind him. I always be sure to leave a few peanuts for him, o he doesn't have to go to far to get them.

Another picture of him in the tree, maybe 8 feet off the ground.

One hand on the tree, in case he needs to make a quick exit.

Today there were about 7 different squirrels running around
, all 5 of these are different squirrels if I kept my image straight.

King squirrel and his tree

Minion Squirrels

This squirrel is our oldest and friendliest... I suspect she is the mother to all these guys. She's at least 3 years old, and has been sole possessor of the big white pine tree for at least 3 years. In this session a couple of her images were ruined because I was inside minimum focussing distance which is about 6 feet.

I thought the same thing.... if I had some way of identifying him, I'd name him Napoleon.
