Love that second one Norm. Looks like he's giving you a raspberry.

Do I see purple fringe in the tail of the first one?

in 2014 all I had was a k2000 and a tamron 500 mirror

f8 and a sometime sunny day
that was all I had to work with
that is also why it became b&w
a lot of folks think grain and noise are the same thing

I've moved a little past that

Something new for me today. Remember I said the 400mm wouldn't auto focus close up or at the feeders. I don't know why it does with a 1.4x TC attached. I decided to try the 1.4x and the 400mm in the backyard today and it's auto focusing is great. I'm still waiting on the squirrels to appear but I've gotten shots of the jays and cardinals so far.

Probably, using a film era 300mm lens with a film era converter, you might get some purple fringing every now and then.

Oh, my AdaptAll 60-300mm lens + AdaptAll doubler demonstrates definite PF {"Purple Fringing"} at the long end {I don't remember testing at the short end - no reason to get to 120mm that way}.

Perhaps the squirrel is daydreaming about Otis.

This image is from my first day with my new-to-me Tokina 500mm mirror lens, which I bought through the Pentaxforums Marketplace. The image was captured with a K-S2 through the glass of a sliding door.

Just needed a quick power nap before finishing the climb.

scampering squirrels

this is the shot that prompted me to start saving for a long autofocus lens
I must gotten twenty or so images and this was the closest to usable
I like that shot! Sort of a haunted look to it.....squirrels will like it too!

More likely he is praying that he has found the fabled Peanut Butter Tree!

Nice shots Norm...as always!

Well, kids came over today but didn't stay long and it's colder outside so I put off getting the cheater branches up. However, last week I had an idea. Just spread the peanut butter on tree trunks. Last evening I put some out on the bird feeder post and some on the persimmon tree. Today, they came.

Really fine shots Photolady! Excellent.....but more important is that you got out the peanut butter to them for the shots...for which Otis awards you.....

His coveted and rarely given award for...

Congratulations!

Regards!

Thanks Rupert. And tell Otis thanks too.

I like the idea I can take photos of them in trees instead on the ground. They do seem to enjoy the peanut butter and at least they don't scamper off while eating it, like they do with the peanuts.

Yes, they seldom linger around with a big roasted peanut.....afraid a competitor will grab it from them. Usually they take the peanuts high up in a big oak tree and eat it there. Sometimes a Jay will steal it from them on their way up...I've seen it a few times. Makes them furious!

He's headed to the top with his peanut!

Otis says you are most deserving for your award....and notes that "peanut butter comes in big industrial size jars.....just sayin'!"

Otis doesn't mind shopping for you if you are short on time.....just send him your Amazon Account # and he will order for you.....that Otis, always thinking of others and how to help them out!

That Otis is something else again. But tell Otis thanks for the offer but I'm not short on time. I'm retired, and have enough time to go to the store.
