I told him it wasn't easy to fool a Big Brain Thinker.......he replied..."It's always worth a try!"

This little guy seemed extra happy this morning......

Squirrels seem to be generally happy critters. They spend most of their time eating and running all about playing. It's not a bad life if they can avoid the many dangers involved. Some can live as long as 15 years......few like Otis live eternally!

They eat like royalty around here.....

This ear of corn was full 10 minutes ago....

This box was full of sunflower seeds two hours ago..now almost empty...

They swear they are not getting too fat...but I dunno???

Regards!

They would carry off the corn cobs that I tried out a few years ago. I didn't nail them down, just laid them on the fence post.

Well, you see my screw and how it works......it's easy and keeps them in one spot while gorging on the corn! They still manage to carry off the bird feeders.....even with the steel braided wires that secure them to the trees. Once they took that welders course and got a cutting torch and a bottle of acetylene it was a cakewalk for them.

Regards!

just run a three or four inch deck/drywall screw up through a board or even a deck rail and no more cob migration

some feed stores sell a wire cage for ears of corn

a neighbor uses a threaded eye screwed into one end of the cob
his solution is suspended from a branch...just barely in reach of the tree...an acrobatic feeder?

I personally think if you are going to feed them, feed them
buy to each his own

I know what I need to do, I just haven't done that yet or chosen a place to put anything out to hold them down. We don't have a deck, and our fence isn't close to the house.

Nice shots of a handsome little guy!

They do love their sweet apples!

I make them eat their greens before they get an apple! They don't like it, but do want those apples!

Regards!

My squirrels turn their noses up to apples but like bananas. I've never seen them eat greens either and my nephew's garden is safe from eating his greens but they do love his tomatoes.

Here's another peanut butter eater from today: It's the first time I've seen them eat fresh helpings and soon as I get it processed I've got one with the fresh butter all over his feet, and whiskers.

Otis had his Giant Army burn candles (and a few old tires) as well as saying nightly prayers for your little fellow while he was missing, in hopes he had not been devoured by a mean old fox of other critter. Looks like it paid off....made Otis a believer in the power of prayers.....or maybe in the burning of old tires?

What a cute little guy he is......fine shot too...we expect that from you....and get it!

Regards!

I just installed one replacement Cheater Branch and one new one. Had to be inspected by Otis first to make certain they were sap producing Peanut Tree compatible. They were!

Photolady.....PM me a mailing address and I can send you a few screws with the heads removed and sharpened for easily driving into a tree or fence with a hammer.

Regards!

Sometimes you just want to get out the shotgun and wipe that silly grin off their little faces.......

"I got this from the bird feeder I just robbed and you can't do anything about it!"

seems to me that Otis and his army of friends have many big brains fooled when they are deliberately being fed.

not complaining or saying there is anything wrong but this thread seems to have two divisions,

one: photos caught on the fly so to speak

the other: photos taken when Otist and his army of friends get free food for posing.

nothing wrong with that just an observation.
