A couple from today. This guy is enjoying all the sunflower seeds dropped by the birds on the new feeder.

After he caught me trying to take pictures. Seems a little upset with the rude interruption to his lunchtime snack

The most regular of the regulars, a fixture around the feeders for the last 3 years.

And a few of her compatriots.

Finally back from Oregon...it was a long drive of almost 5400 miles...tough on an old guy!

I want to thank all of you that kept this fine thread alive and healthy...and more important the squirrels thank you too!
Some mighty fines squirrel shots were posted by you guys!

My squirrels were well fed while we were gone and seem to be as normal as ever......

What squirrels do on a hot summer day here......not much!

Regards & good to be back home here!

Welcome Home Rupert! Good to see you back.

I have a couple more I got this afternoon. I made me a few saltines and peanut butter but couldn't eat them all so I took what I had left, went outside, crumbled them up and left them for the babies. Didn't take long for them to find their treat.

Thanks Photolady..it is good to be back! I like that cracker idea...I'll make some up for the guys here and see what happens. Nice shots you are posting lately for sure!

I did ask that squirrel if he could be a little more active...so he hung his foot off the side a little lower!

Wonder how long until this Cheater Branch breaks off and some squirrel sues me?

Regards! More squirrel shots...there are never too many!

Well, today I took some real cheese outside, placed it around the feeders but not on the ground and the squirrels ignored it. So, in conclusion I've found my babies like Black Oil sunflower seeds, bread, and crackers with peanut butter, and bananas, oranges and green persimmons, but do not really like plain old roasted peanuts, and won't eat apples.

As for the cheater branches, did you use green branches?

Some from today at the in-laws. Their squirrels are a lot "friendlier" than mine. I used my SMC-K 135 on these, and was getting a little nervous, with it staring at me, swooshing his tale back and forth.

A quick peek to see if I'm still standing there

See my long claws, are you scared yet?

For his final trick, eating a tiny pear (just started showing up on the trees) while hanging from his back feet. Very impressive.

David, squirrel claws are pretty sharp, it's amazing what they can hold onto defying gravity in the process.

Another one from me so far this morning.

Their joints also work differently, which is why they can walk face-first down a tree, while one of my cats would be helpless until she became desperately hungry.
