This one is also from last April and Kensington Gardens in London - this time I was using a 720nm filter on the Finepix, so anything that's white, such as the grass, reflected red or infra-red - most plants reflect a lot of infra-red or they'd cook! Quality suffers because light levels are low and some noise becomes apparent.

Not really very surprising, fur is a good insulator so it reflects a lot of infra-red.

There are no bad squirrel shots! Otis said your squirrel was shot near Chernobyl and can also glow in the dark!

I've tried to explain to her she's living for a family to come
that sitting there looking cute isn't going to keep the red tails at bay

had a half dozen squirrels doing there marcel's so I opened the window and there he was
he wouldn't shoo, so I grabbed the camera
he fled the scene
apparently he prefers his head shots from canikon equipment

but I got hers

What I keep hoping to get is a picture of a squirrel with one of the feral parakeets that have taken up residence in most of London's parks. But they're awkward sods, a lot more camera-shy than the squirrels, and I've yet to get a good photo.

Mine have been missing in action the last few days because of the Red Shouldered's hanging around. Saw another one of these birds in the bird bath yesterday.

we had a parakeet at our water feature for a month or so a couple years ago

it wasn't too flighty at the water, even with the squirrels drinking (the feeders weren't the same story)
it was almost always with younger sparrows
I read while this was going on that the association wasn't unusual

you might look for a similar nexus when you go out

Looks like you are going to have to learn to play the bagpipes.....which should be easy. Any noise they make will scare away the hawks....maybe the squirrels too?, and certainly your neighbors!

Business as usual around here today...

a shot in the dark

I tried a tamron 1.4tc on my sigma 150-500

focusing was problematic in the deep shade but I did get a couple useable shots

here is one...

Nice shot ccc.

I bought a promaster 1.7 TC and it fits the Sigma 70-300mm nicely but..... it hunts too much on AF so I'll save it for another lens. I'm thinking about getting a Pentax 55-300mm WR next month.

Anyway, here's the only shot I got today because I was busy shooting American Gold Finches.

Yep, the "Squirrel Haters" don't know what they are missing! I see more fun shots out my windows than I get, they are so much fun to just sit and watch.
Day after day I watch them scampering around having fun and eating like pigs...not involved with the hassles of life we face daily. No bills to pay, no politics to infuriate the mind, nothing to own or upkeep......it's not a bad life....if you can avoid the hawks and other raptors!

Sometimes all the fun just wears them out!
