here, from the grounds of the Scovill Zoo in Decatur Illinois, is rare documentation of the bravery and dedication of the lone guard Squirrel facing off with several invaders threatening the sole water source of the unseen giant tortoise

does he survive or not outnumbered 3 to 1

ah, that would be telling (hint, the birds have been deliberately "unfocused" until the next of kin can be identified and informed)

the other photos of this engagement are just too gory for the delicate eyes of those who regularly review this thread so I cannot post them

just another example of those guardians among us we so often ignore:

the squirrels are contending with the finches for cherry blossoms and leaf buds as often as searching for peanuts

I've contacted Rupert to ask if he's okay and when we can expect him to pop back in here. I told him about our posting squirrel shots here since he's been out of pocket. Hopefully, he'll be back soon. His last time online was 4/4/2017.
