A Faux squirrel, one of a pair flanking my driveway. Much enjoyed by the odd infant passing. The wear and tear is probably due to a lot of petting by said infants who often leave acorns, nuts and pinecones for them.
Taken with a Ricoh XR-20P, either a Rikenon 50mm or 35-70mm and some old Agfa film.

He's pretty rough, but he's still welcome here! I see that even a stone squirrel loves to eat!

Regards!

Made eye contact with the Medusa!

At least they won't eat you out of house and home

Everybody eats! All that come to my yard. Counted 14 in the yard earlier.

Happy squirrels galore!

I counted 6 of these spread out on the cedar fence the other afternoon. Ate so much they were about to pop!

WOW! You've got some busy squirrels!

Some sap showed up early this morning.....

Caused a lot of excitement!

They like to eat it right out of the spout!

"We need more sap!"

Regards!

They sure can gobble it up in a hurry. I put some out this morning as well and it was gone by 12pm.

Phototolady, we were babysitting my son's pig dog for 6 weeks while him and his wife were on vacation. I was at the Feed Store getting seed for the birds and squirrels when I saw they had small peanut flavor doggie biscuits. I got some for her...and yesterday I put out a few on the cedar fence to see what would happen? Squirrels went nuts over them! Now that Peggy the Pig Dog has gone back home, I need to buy some more for the squirrels! I'll get some pictures!

Regards!

Sounds like you found something else squirrels like. Unfortunately, we don't have a real feed store here. We do have pet supplies store but usually those are expensive to buy from so I avoid them. I buy my peanuts from the grocery store. And peanut butter from there as well.

squirrels like dog food almost as much as dogs, unfortunately so do the opossums and raccoons

as to the peanuts...most of our feed stores in a fifty mile radius sell raw/unroasted peanuts
our squirrels apparently can take them or leave them...same with the jays, woodpeckers and grackles

we buy five bags of roasted peanuts for $6.49 on sale and everybody gobbles them up
the jays are actually squawking at the window right now...the feeder is empty

I read somewhere that birds and squirrels can't digest raw or unroasted peanuts. And I buy the roasted unsalted kind and they gobble them up here too. As I said, we don't have a local feed store here I think the closest is more than 50 miles from here. So I buy them at the grocery in 2lb bags for $2.99 per bag. I've had jays come to get them even as I'm tossing them in the yard. But never show up if I've got camera in hand. LOL

Every now and again an Oak sprouts in my lawn or garden or pots. I suspect a squirrel (or more) is using my place as a larder.
Maybe they are hoping to be self sufficient at some time in the far future. They must be stealth squirrels as I have never seen one planting and to be honest, seldom see them in my garden. I hope to be ready to shoot them when they do appear. With a camera that is.
