Usually squirrels kind of tilt 45 degrees or so when eating, but this one seemed nervous today - standing bolt upright while eating and occasionally running up a nearby tree for no obvious reason

Fortunately Britain hasn't currently got any rabies - I've hand-fed squirrels quite a few times without problems. It helps that most of the squirrels in London's parks are ridiculously tame and seem to grasp the idea of taking something from your palm. Unlike the bloody swan...

Just bought a new lens, unfortunately it almost certainly is sod-all use for squirrels - a Samyang 8mm f3.5, which is possibly just a little bit on the wide side...

We have a warning of a lot of snow for this evening, so I put some extra squirrel food out just before noon, just before the squirrel usually arrives; she did come, but then this gal arrived and took over.





Fortunately, she posed for a mug shot before leaving





On her way out, she stopped to groom herself {if you look carefully at the picture, you can even see her tongue}. Our cats do this very gracefully, I've seen squirrels do this, but I've never seen a deer do it. Incidentally, inspired by another thread here, I took this picture with my AdaptAll #23 lens, at approx. 135mm, f/5.6;

I have just started putting out some peanut butter to encourage the squirrels.....this one had a quick reconnoitre then came back a few minutes later. As you can see he was too quick for me the first time. Hopefully the second time, when he stopped to eat, would have pleased Rupert even if it is slightly OOF.

They love peanut butter. But not only squirrels like it, birds do too. You should probably have an opportunity to photographic some nice song birds too.

Some one has been feeding him som much, that he is Overwieght.

This gal dug down to the food I put out before the last snow storm .... then jumped into the resulting hole to eat the food

I was listening to a squirrel chattering in our big oak tree this morning. I couldn't figure out what she was making so much noise for because usually they chatter like that if a hawk or snake is around. Later, I found out what she was chattering about. She was telling her children they could watch how the other squirrels were getting food, but they couldn't leave the tree.

The robin that visits the bird feeder in my kitchen window has got through about 200 cubic centimeters of bird seed in the last few weeks (it's possible that other birds have visited it, but I haven't noticed them) and is looking much bigger than when I first saw him. Another fatty in making!
