Unlike Rupert, I'm not very good at getting the names of squirrels, but I believe this is the one who has been chased off several times. This time he very carefully scouted out the area before deciding it was safe to dine.

I just discovered that I hadn't posted this picture yet.

My mother had been dying in slow motion for the past year. Every time I posted an image online, I then downloaded it on my tablet and took it to the long term care facility to show her also. I took this on the 6th and showed it to her on the 7th. She said 'cute'. Those were the last words I heard from her. She mercifully died early on the 10th. I am posting this now in remembrance of that last word from her.

The squirrels have been rather testy lately ... maybe mating season is upon us. They are no longer willing to dine side by side. Now, one has to chase the other off the property before settling down to eat.

No matter how relieved it is still a huge loss. My thoughts go out to you.

It's been a while, doesn't have any good chance with the Squirrel, up for Mr. Rupert.

Another day, another lot of lens tests in Kensington Gardens, this time a Nikon 28-100 that gave some OK results with our furry friends:

And today three different furry friends visited the garden below my flat, possibly explaining why we haven't seen many squirrels there lately:

Annoyingly, I didn't manage to get any pictures with all three in the frame simultaneously. Lots more here:

Comment from the flat below "Grr - Squashed plants and fox poo - lovely..."

The second picture, the leaping squirrel. is a wonderful, unique capture. The squirrel itself is really a handsome fellow. Some of the squirrels in the western USA, around the Grand Canyon for example, have those delightful hairy ear-tufts, but here in the north-east, the squirrels are bigger and duller.

I saw this guy out practicing watching his shadow .... there being no reason being a weather forecaster should be limited to ground hogs.

Even the guy who has to keep everything in stock?

Here, no matter how many peanuts I put out, the jays seem to get most of them.

Last night I put a bag of stale bread on the deck, to separate it from the fresh bread and so I could distribute it after I got up this morning, but by the time I got out there, someone had taken it. Obviously a mammal - none of our birds is large enough, but I don't know which one, nor what it did with the bag.
Well, I still haven't seen a raccoon, about the only one brave enough to take something off our porch, but now I know why there is never any unburied corn around when the squirrels come for lunch .... three deer trying to squeeze into the space normally used by two squirrels! {I'm guessing these are also who took the top off the birdfeeder yesterday and left it half-empty}

Two different squirrels stopped by for Easter dinner today - the first showed off his tail more, but the second was more talkative
