We seem to have a bumper crop of squirrels this year. It was an exceptional year for pine and fir cones, so lot's of food over the winter.

Raccoon.

They will steal anything that resembles food.
It turns out you might be right - I noticed this guy at just about sunset. My K-30 was set wrong but I grabbed a shot anyway - almost totally dark. It took me only a few seconds to "fix" my settings {I had max ISO setting at 1600, and under TAv mode, I needed something more like 6400}, but he was gone by then. Using gimp I was able to salvage something. If I ever fit a KP into my budget, I'm hoping to do better in circumstances like this.

Some sad news today - there's a squirrel that I've seen on a big tree in a neighbour's garden a few times, but was never able to get a good photo. I last saw it yesterday afternoon when I took the picture below while testing a fairly crappy lens.

Yesterday evening someone in the flat below took a VERY blurry iPhone picture of a fox with a very familiar tail dangling from something it was eating, so I suspect that's the last I'll see of him.

I just happened to glance out our den window a few minutes ago, and there was a squirrel, enjoying the view from our deck

Of course, eventually he noticed my presence at the window

and he remembered he was late for an important date in the greenery

K-3 and Tamron SP AF 300 2.8 with Pentax HD DA 1.4 TC.
640 ISO, ƒ5.6, AV

King Squirrel didn't seem interested in eating. But he sat there and squeaked away offering a challenge to the other squirrels. Any who came into his "territory" he chased after until they left.

Seems a little greedy, especially since the birds just swoop in and take what they want. He doesn't seem to mind birds as much as other squirrels. He even came into the blind with me to see what was going on in there.

Too funny Aslyfox. He looks like the squirrel in my 3rd shot. It must be some kind of universal squirrel pose they learn isn squirrel modelling school.

Came across this fellow by chance, and figured it would be a rightful tribute to Rupert!
