Testing a "new" Nikon body (D7000) with my favorite 28-300 Tamron, got a couple of reasonably cooperative squirrels:

Just got my Zenit Photosniper kit.
Of course, I'm gonna shoot squirrels with it if the cops don't shoot me first. (I'm in Canada, so I should be fine)

Someone had their lunch stolen. A chicken finger pita, I think.
Shot wide open at f4.5 on an APS-C camera, so kinda soft.

Missed the focus by a hair...

Here's a couple with my 16kp 50mm f1.2 projector lens.
Back of squirrel nibbling on some nuts.

Foraging for more nuts

I'd crop them, but there is SO MUCH SWIRL (and squirrel)!

Nice ones of the black squirrel. I've never seen a black one before. TFS. And I hate when mine refuse to face the camera. LOL

A couple from last year at Hunstville State Park.
I stalked the one on the tree for a good while. I think he finally started getting aggravated with me.
I have a few others from past years that I'll have to dig out of the archives.

Closest thing I could get to a squirrel, while walking a trail at Ouabache State Park, Bluffton, IN this morning.
The squirrel I was following would not cooperate.

Speaking of black squirrels. Here's one with much better sharpness.
The sun has finally come out, and the MC Photosniper is really starting to shine.

Shot at f5.6, cropped to 4:3 aspect ratio for better framing of subject. Photo is in AdobeRGB colour space.

Hmm, here's another black one with the same lens and aperture.
The sun came out and shone into the lens the instant I hit the shutter, which screwed up my exposure, white balance, and contrast.
Had to throw this photo into Lightroom and do much more heavy-handed edits than I liked. (I treat my a6300 as one would a film camera, you get what you get, PP is cheating)

There seem to be much more black squirrels than brown ones in my region, interesting...

Our senior cat, nearly-sixteen-old Velcro was complaining about the intruders in 'her' backyard {my wife hasn't let her out in several years}, but as soon as I arrived with my camera, she left the problem to me and went back to sleep, so she missed the Blue Jay and squirrel near-drama {at the last second, the Blue Jay decided there must be food elsewhere}

added:

During our dinner time, junior cat Leila took over - she was interested in the show, but there was less to see.

As I sat in our den, I glanced out the window and saw this guy high in the trees looking in my direction. Perhaps he was wondering why I haven't refilled the feeders - the answer, which he won't like, is that I'm trying to get them to find some of their own food .... we may be moving this summer, so he needs to sharpen his living-off-the-land skills.

Squirrel and Mourning Dove were contently eating together - then Groundhog came and chased them off; she must have had a guilty conscience because she fled as soon as I quietly slid the door open.

Not having much luck with getting the squirrels to ignore me but I managed a few when this one did not see me hiding behind the washing line, then he saw me and was off. Cropped a fair bit.

This one's progeny would have been better nourished if I still had some corn, but a bag a peanuts I found recently is all I have left. Made her very happy - I guess she needed a treat at this point in her pregnancy.
