Of course he was - he was alive, wasn’t he?

This little fellow was chased up a tree by a dog in Kensington Gardens, London, and took a moment to rest once he was out of reach. Fortuitously I was testing an SMC Pentax-FA 80-200 4.7-5.6 at the time... I think I was about 10ft away for this one.

They don't bring em back, they eat em right there. I used to grow pumpkins outside where I lived in New York in my teens, the squirrels love to eat em when they get soft and they're easier to get into.

I still haven't images o the tow that live in my back yard. I assume that the other 10 were the victims of predators, probably a stoat, the two that are left are quite shy. I had to o to the park to get this guy.

I plan to start feeding the wildlife on our Thanksgiving Day {next Thursday}, but yesterday was a very nice day, so I hung the Squirrel Feeder just before we ate lunch. While we were eating, my wife noticed this guy inspecting my work - no matter how much he openly waits for food, he will still have to wait until next Thursday to get any.

I think he will get a bit irritated at you by then. They also have a pretty good memory for those that irritate them. One time when we were camping, our oldest son (about 11 at the time) was tired of this squirrel chattering at him and so he threw a pinecone at it, not even coming close, but making the squirrel run. The rest of that four day weekend, pinecones would fall out of the sky and either hit or come close to my son. When you looked up, there was a squirrel in the tree. To this day I think my son is wary of any squirrel he runs into.

Now that is funny, didn't know squirrels had a large enough brain to retaliate that way!

Today he walked around the deck - then returned to the Squirrel Feeder and looked back.
I got the distinct feeling he is not very happy about waiting for Thanksgiving for me to provide food.

He looks like he's already been packing it on for the winter. I don't think I've seen a squirrel that ...healthy.
