Yesterday, I filled the squirrel feeder with peanuts-in-shell - a treat for both the Squirrels and the Blue Jays.
This guy seems quite pleased.

My wife has been cutting apple to put in her oatmeal, so I've been putting the cores into the squirrel-feeder.
Sometimes Squirrels kick them out in their hurry to get to the peanuts - but someone always appreciates them.
Here, a Squirrel finds one on the ground, then goes behind a bush to eat it in relative privacy,

This Squirrel was able to get some {sun}flower seeds from the 'squirrel-proof' feeder - until he slipped and put his weight on the outer cage, and had to start all over again.

This guy must have been really hungry - in fact, I delayed filling the feeders while I watched and photographed him.
He kept eating even as he kept his eyes on me.

Today a Squirrel sat high in our apple tree.
I would be clinging for dear life up there, but he was scratching himself while watching me.

Flying squirrel

Some of my squirrels rob the bird seed and do not bat an eye (or switch a tail) when I come in sight. This one, however, played flying squirrel and headed for the tree. Technically, not a very nice photo, but thought I would share it anyway as I think Rupert would approve of a flying squirrel.

but it is an interesting photo - as a bird heads toward the feeder on the left as the squirrel flees the feeder on the right.
