absolutely adorable!

I have 3 squirrels I have connected with. This is Bolelyn. Her nose was frostbit during the polar vortex. I assume she had been out when either the hawk or eagle was hunting and had to stay motionless for a long period. Another one had what I assume was a near escape from one because of the huge hole in its haunch that has recently healed. I came upon the lower half of a squirrel today and saw a hawk kill a red squirrel 2 days ago, I often wondered why they chose to live so close to a path where many bring their unleashed dogs but the dogs are easy to escape and keep the other predators mostly away. The park transistions from pure lawn to wild over about a mile. This part is tree cover but mowed area, the birds of prey stay mostly to the full woods on the edge of the golf course.

If this were me, I would be more careful, but I was no good in gymnastics, and he is a squirrel.

This Squirrel is carefully selecting from the riches on the ground - and the one in the squirrel feeder seems to be dropping more than the guy on the ground is eating.
From the amount on the ground. I'm putting less in the feeder each day than I was a week ago.

Wild Turkeys are one type of wildlife we don't seem to get.
The Grackles and Back Birds {literally} peck at it, and the deer do clean up the place when they come, but it will be basically like this until I stop filling the feeders in about another month
{I usually stop about the times the trees begin to leaf out - by then, even a dumb Squirrel is able to feed itself off the land}.

When we moved to Western Massachusetts in 2006, I was surprised at first to see a flock of turkeys in the parking lot of the place where I worked.
I tend to think of them as being a more Western bird - then I remembered the Pilgrims and their first Thanksgiving dinner.

I've been playing with a thermal imaging camera attachment for my iPhone. Unfortunately the lens is fairly wide angle and resolution is fairly low (the low-res thermal image is superimposed onto a higher resolution image, that's all of 480 x 640). There are better ones around, but not at the sort of money I want to spend. Anyway here's a squirrel - sorry it isn't better.

This guy has become my Buddy over the last year. He was down a hill about half a football field away tonight when I spotted what I thought was a squirrel. I called his name and he recognized me and came running. Thought this one made him look like an action movie star.
