we have a volunteer pin oak that we've left in the garden as a staging area for our avian guests
this squirrel treats it as a sanctuary
unfortunately it is a dead end

Bandit Alert: Woodies are stealing sap from the peanut trees, depriving little squirrels of their favorite treat. Otis is building a scarecrow to keep him away and may even hire a real crow to do the job.

"This is pretty good stuff!"

Regards!

@ccc_ He is practicing his camouflage maneuvers, and doing pretty good at it!

Tell Otis to not build a crow. That scare away the woodies, but then the crows like the sap too.

Damn! That guy can eat a lot of sap! Otis ran an ad for a crow with peanut allergies, and got this guy...but I told Otis, I think he is lying, he looks pretty shady?

Sunset squirrel...tree squirrel...ground squirrel...They're all good here! Keep them coming!

"Let's get out of this thread.....it's full of those filthy critters!....here comes one now."

"Hey, don't get too close or we'll peck your eyes out!"

"Every time I see one I get an itch!"

Well, I guess not everyone loves handsome squirrels?

Wanna make your squirrels really angry? Sit and eat this as they watch through your windows.

Make sure your vehicles are not around...Cops said there were paw prints on every beer bottle they found....

are the squirrels like the Irish (I have Irish ancestry so I think I can make this joke)

the Irish don't get mad

the Irish don't get even

the Irish get ahead

which makes it real difficult for the Irish to settle their own disputes

I don't know where Allen got his "irish" from, but I'm Irish also, my great great grandmother came here straight from Ireland, her last name was Ireland. And I get even and I get mad and I get revenge. LOL

Anyway, here one I've processed from today's shoot.

More to come later when I have more time.

Handsome and plenty healthy! Good combination!

"It's dangerous work but can be well worth it!

"Always good to bow my little head and say a prayer for the sap spout to open wide!"

"Then just get comfy and wait for the answered prayer!"

getting revenge - can that be read as getting ahead???

[ as I predicted, it can be hard to get folks with Irish in them to agree ]

maternal grandmother was Irish, her husband Scottish

paternal grandmother English, her husband's family ??? emigrated from Holland to the New York/ Pennsylvania area before Rev War - before Holland they were reputedly from Alsace-Lorraine region of Europe

Amazing thing, it seems all the males in my family get married to women who pass on a stubborn streak to the kids - heaven knows all of us males are not stubborn at all

that's my story and I am sticking to it.

Since we were having automobile issues today, I took my wife to work this morning so I'd have use of the still-working vehicle during the day. That meant, of course, that I had to retrieve her in the evening. Knowing that I might arrive earlier than she was ready, I brought my camera with me, and then wandered around campus looking for a friendly squirrel. At first I couldn't find any, and then I came across this lovely lass.

Initially she came right up to my shoes, but once she determined I wasn't one of those students who ignore the "do not feed the squirrels" rule, she went back to work looking for the food she had stashed away just a few months ago

Apparently her notes were good {I was on my 69-year-old knees to take these last three pictures}

and after apologizing for not having time to chat

she continued her search for buried treasure that only a squirrel could properly appreciate

Obviously the students don't pay any attention to the rules! She looks plenty healthy and well fed. Those are very fine shots, you need to post more over here!
