Not so fast. That's the only photo that shows it. All other photos from various angles show that it clearly doesn't have it. That one appears to be a fake. Also no mention of that little tidbit in all the pre-release hype.

That's how the A7 operates, FYI. Front wheel, Back wheel, and 'thumb wheel'. And you can adapt your current glass if you like.

Yeah, the A7 is pretty great, especially for people who like to use manual glass. I find I would lose a little too much automation on modern K-lenses. And the A7, while not incredibly expensive, still isnt something Id buy as an experiment. Definitely a very attractive Sony camera, though

A modest, incremental upgrade, much like D600 to D610.

Just shows whats important. Technology hasn't developed as fast as camera companies need to push products. This is like the K5II release, refinement in usability and handling. Not a bad thing at all imo!

Actually, the D800 had a problem with focus plane asymmetry in the viewfinder, not fixable via firmware upgrade, of course... AND it had (and still has) a just plain dumb design flaw in the scaling algorythm for downsampling to the resolution of the LCD screen in live view. Other than that, it's perfect.

.
I have a D800. It has no problem at all. That focus thing is ancient history. And what does scaling a image down in the LCD screen have to do with picture taking? I rarely chimp with that camera. And the only time I look at the LCD is to review a histogram/exposure.

What's the downside to an electronic shutter?

I was the same until I moved to EVF.
Now, the thought of going back feels like a major step in the wrong direction.

Guess I'm a Sony convert now.

PS. the following statement(s) would have no impact on my commitment and/or dedication for MF

I'm not without EVF experience. I had a mirrorless with one. They're nice but I really don't care if a camera has one or not.

Mine is SLT, though it is a godsent in my case as I can now shoot without the need for glasses or OVF modifications. Plus I get to see TTL lens rendering through the VF as opposed to an LCD screen etc.
Granted it's not perfect(limited dr, slow refresh rates in low light etc), but that just tell me there's much to look forward to in terms of future development.

Haven't given mirrorless fair shake though.
Might give the A7s a try when it hits the shelves as I've been looking for something small for low light street shooting.
Then again, I doubt I'll be getting much use out of the EVF much in that case.
