DP-2 knob

I have asked this question over in Nikon Forums but being new there It is taking forever to get my pots posted.m So I come to where I am positive I can get an answer to my question. I just bought a Nikon F2s I have it cleaned and everything working finally. My question is what is the small knob in front of the lens connection lever for? Not know this is driving me crazy. It doesn't look likr it connects to the EE aca unit from the Pictures I can find and no mention in any of the specs sheets for it as well

Yeah. I down loaded the manual yesterday. For the F2s model The f2 doesn't have the knob on the prism. The all the manuals seem to totally skips over it for some reason. no mention even in the diagrams but it is in the photos. I can move it with my finger but it doesn't seem to do anything.

That is the coupling pin It couples the lens rabbit ears to the meter. In my shot it is hidden by the lens. So it is the wrong pin . The first shot here is the prism/meter housing off the camera. It shows both the coupling pin and the other one that is in question. the second one the housing is mounted and shows the coupling pin coupling the lens rabbit ears and the mystery pin.

Thanks I have seen photo's of this but not these. That is the auto aperture adapter This is the first shot I have seen that is clear enough to see it connected. all the shots I've seen ,There have been several, it is not touching the knob.
I really appreciate the time you all gave me on this.
