I dont usually do this, dude, but i felt like i should chime in there a bit if only to balance the amount of crap nikon is taking for this. People seem to ignore all the other things that they have to offer (cough cough ease of use) while focusing on tthings like this. The so called dust "scandal" that was made alot of fixed itself for me actually. It was noticeable in tests the lab tech performed at school but a few thousand shots later, its completely gone. Fact is that nikon is still one of the two most popular camera brands and i dont think thats just because of marketing.

Talent and skill counts for alot, and i completely agree that you can take a bad shot with a $200 camera or a $2000 one, but sometimes you need the right tool for the trick. My k20 would constantly meter scenes (high contrast scenes notably) poorly. It couldnt really track moving subjects either.
Look, it should be clear that cameras have come a long way with all brands since the K20 was released. If your only experience with a Nikon camera had been a D80, but you repeatedly showed up on a Nikon forum to bash Nikon, saying that your K3 or 6D or whatever other camera you owned was worlds better, you wouldn't be particularly appreciated. I am glad that your D600 took care of itself, but clearly there was major issue, as Nikon had to release a completely new camera and replace defective D600s with D610s. Unfortunately, users end up being beta testers and camera companies often don't find out problems until cameras are in the field in wide spread use.

The D750 is a fine camera, as is your D600, as is the K3 and most other cameras on the market today. But these are all tools to get the images that you want. The constant statement that you live in an unphotogenic area of the country rings hollowly on my ears. I wish I lived in Yosemite or, at the foot of the Rockies, but I don't. You make the most of the photographic opportunities around you, don't complain about the ones you don't have.

Check out his Flickr stream, too for what a Nikon's done for him.
That's a real cheap shot.
1) This thread is titled Nikon D750. Adding info about a D750 seems appropriate in this thread
2) This is in the non-Pentax portion forum.
3) If the guy pissed on a Pentax camera and proceeded to stomp on it, does it hurt you physically or emotionally? If the brand ceased to exist tomorrow, would you no longer be able to feed your family? If it does not, then why take a personal shot at him.

Yes, the guy is a little annoying in my opinion, but in none of the threads I have seen has he commented on one's lack of photography skills, therefore does not deserve that.

Your concern for an obvious troll is ... touching, Cali.

You can read Rondec's reply instead of mine ... same sentiment, less blunt.

Your cheerleading and pom-pom shaking for a billion dollar corporation is also touching.

I bit on this deal. Couldn't resist the D750 for $1500.
Seems a great deal. Others obviously agree Limited quantity available / 634 sold

What is it with Nikon at the moment. I've seen deep discounts on D610, now D750 too. Is there a D760 around the corner?

Now I've heard it all. A guy who comes on and trashes everything he can about other people's cameras, doesn't even have to be good at photography. "Ya, listen to my advice dudes, you can be just like me.." , thanks, but no thanks.
I was sure cali92rs was on my ignore list. I have to go see what happened.

OK there we go problem solved.

Could you guys hold up the arguing until morning? Otis wants to get in on the action, but it's his bedtime...and he doesn't want to miss his "Beauty Sleep".

Regards!

D750

I think you will like it. Autofocus and metering are significantly better than Pentax. I still use my k5 and k3 some but the Nikon has mostly taken over. This is an image I took with the 24-85 kit lens this weekend. Some of the pro lenses like the 70-200 f2.8 and the 300 f4 are exceptional. The low light ability is also very good

In my experience K-3's metering and AWB are MUCH more reliable. D750's AF is great, there's no doubt but K-3 is a better overall camera to me.

I recently had a chance to play with a D750 which belong to a friend, I am not as impressed or cheer-leading as some of the folks are (aside from the ergonomics such as no green button, iso button and awkward dials positions, I also don't see much difference even though it is a full frame). So, thanks but no thanks, I rather have my k-3 and/or wait for the Pentax FF later.

OTOH, I guess for those Nikon users, they can say the same thing about Pentax; that's okay too.

I guess I'm still waiting for that definite "blow me away photo" where I look at the picture and think.. "that's something I'd like to do that I can't do with my Pentax". The camera's philosophy has a certain appeal. Too bad it's FF.

I think so much depends on your style of shooting. If you do a lot of action photography, then the D750 is probably the sort of a camera that Pentax doesn't currently make (not sure how the K3 II will be in this respect). On the other hand, if you are shooting landscapes at f11, then probably it won't make a huge difference.

Pentax auto focus is currently good enough to shoot my kids and get sharp photos and to let me get my static landscapes and that's good enough for me.

I shoot events and stage photography and rarely use F8 or higher even for landscape photos.
