It quite possibly is in the sweet spot in Nikon's lineup.
I think it definitely hits the sweet spot. The files from the D810 are way too big for high volume professionals who do wedding, event work, & sports and those makes up the largest segments of the professional market. The D4s is too big and expense for all but the most demanding jobs, and the AF of the D610 and Df is really not very good. The price, size, MPs, & AF all hit right were they need to be. My only complaint is that the build quality is not as good as I would like. The carbon fiber chassis with metal top plate is probably fine, but I prefer the build of the K-3.

If Pentax took the K-3 build quality and put this sensor in it I would gladly pay $2,500 for it.

I am admittedly very intrigued by 36 megapixels someone who just a few years ago was shooting with a measy 6. Inhow you can play "where's waldo" with all the immense number of mega pixels, and to be honest, thats kind of where the intrigue comes from. digital reve tv's D800 review, they say But the D810's price i think may be a little out of my range. The d750 may just hit that sweet spot. Does anyone know of any noise comparisons between expeed 3 and 4.

DigitalRev are idiots if they are saying what I think you are implying.

In terms of pixel density, 36Mpixel on full frame is slightly LESS dense than 16Mpixel APS-C.

If you want to play cropping games (yawn) use a 24Mpixel APS-C camera, like the K-3.

The big win with the D810 and A7r is the lack of AA filter - once you've experienced the difference, you'll understand.

Nikon probably hit a sweet spot with this one.

It's the 5dIII for 1000 less.

Honestly though with APS-C delivering really good quality at 24mp you get:

Better AF (faster lens motors and nikons top end AF). Who cares if you don't need it.
little bit better high iso.
little better DOF (this wouldn't be the case if we had faster glass like the Fuji 56 1.2 or some of the .95 options Fuji/Sony have access too.)

Nikon has a bunch of lenses to choose from so that's a plus. Seems like less of a difference between FF and APS-C these days.

I think this one is more attractive than the D610 or DF.

I would take the 5d3. It's AF is better, it's build is better, better primes in general, 1/8000. The D750 will have a better sensor according to DXO.

I guess d750 will take the interests of pentaxians who have a will to go ff, including me
More capable than d610 with a reasonable price.

Better noise peformance than the 810. First nikon that actually stand up to the 5dmk3 in terms of low light,

I got my D810 back from the service centre two weeks ago after they adjusted it for the White Thermal Spot issue and I only noticed that I had set the RAW mode to uncompressed (70+ MB per image) after they updated the FW. I normally shoot RAW lossless 14 bit but somehow messed this up without noticing until a few minutes ago. Today I shot my ex-mother in law's funeral and the folder size is over 8GB for 188 files - and that's after switching to jpeg after 66 RAW and about 1GB of video. The Jpegs are between 16-20MB in size as it is.

One interesting point about today is that I ended up cropping most of the portrait format shots at 8x10 and leaving the landscape formats as is or slimmer.

Odd aperture choice?? Now that's an image that could have used more DOF!

5DIII has been surpassed by several Nikons since it's inception

Gosh I (along with countless Nikonians) wish that Df sensor was in the body of a D750.

I have been on some of the Nikon forums reading reviews and talking to early adapters about the D750. I have found 3 different people who sold their K-3 bodies and went to the D750. Seems like a lot considering how rare it is to find Pentax shooters on other forums in general.

I also see that Sony has lowered the price of the A99 to under $2,000 and thrown in a free grip. There are no rumors about a coming A99 replacement, so I get the feeling this is in response to Nikon and the D750.

Ross Harvey seems to like it a lot - Nikon D750 Review | Destination Wedding Photographer

What's interesting is comparison of DR between D750 and 5DmkIII. 750 blows the Canon out of water.

Amazing, but it's also an unrealistic scenario unless you set out to produce phart ala the one shot hdr "wonders" that I see out of the D8xx cameras on Flickr.

Most wedding pros aren't going to run into that scenario I'm guessing based on the author's statement "I repeat, this is not a real world example, it's simply testing the furthest reaches of the sensor."
