Originally posted by Christine Tham I saw this today, and it looks very similar to the D600/D610 (which is a Good Thing IMHO) - certainly much more attractive than the Df which was sitting next to it and look grotesque by comparison.
It quite possibly is in the sweet spot in Nikon's lineup.
I think it definitely hits the sweet spot. The files from the D810 are way too big for high volume professionals who do wedding, event work, & sports and those makes up the largest segments of the professional market. The D4s is too big and expense for all but the most demanding jobs, and the AF of the D610 and Df is really not very good. The price, size, MPs, & AF all hit right were they need to be. My only complaint is that the build quality is not as good as I would like. The carbon fiber chassis with metal top plate is probably fine, but I prefer the build of the K-3.
If Pentax took the K-3 build quality and put this sensor in it I would gladly pay $2,500 for it.
