Wow, you have to be the most atheltic grandma ive ever seen. Sydnee Australia is a big city though. Its the capitol and a popular tourist destination so photography there is gonna be a piece of cake. You could probably spend hours taking pics. Biking dozens of miles is probably way easier in australia though. America isn't terribly friendly when it comes to biking... Many people would have quite months ago but ive kept at it, even if this meant taking pics of cats and donkeys.. Ok, so you've been to this town. I wonder if you would be inclined to share what it is exactly here (that i dont know about) that is so exciting. I would love a reprieve from taking pics of cats.

btw, as ive sold my telephoto, i now only have two lenses but thats another story.

All you folks living in big urban centres (like neostyles) ... I am jealous.

My small rural town features 8 houses, two roads, a general store, and a payphone booth. No town water supply, no public transport, no government provided sewerage or even garbage service, no gutters on the road, no footpaths, no ADSL or cable broadband Internet. The nearest town is 20 minutes away and has a population of 5000. The nearest city with a population 1 million+ is about 3 hours drive away.

Yet there has always been something to photograph literally in my backyard, or in nearby small towns. So pls don't gripe to me about Palo Alto being a photographic dead-zone.

LUXURY!!!

Why we had to wake up 2 hours before we went to bed, and build our own houses and roads ....

Sorry ... had to channel Monty Python in there somehow.

Indeed.
But I even had to invent fire, and the wheel, not to mention AC electricity, just to make my early days here tolerable.

Well on a somewhat different note, it seems that there is no live histogram on the d750.. I asked the person at the camera store if he could find it and he didnt so im gonna assume it's not there.. Which is strange because the kit will run you $3000. Funny because the canon 7D has it and it costs quite a bit less.. Considering going to the d800 as it does seem to have this.. And then the 36 mp too

Why? You're out of money and have nothing to shoot anyway . Last thing you need is a new camera body.

Why stop there? You will probably be unhappy with the D800.

At a minimum, I suggest you get a Phase One IQ280 Digital Back with 645DF+ Body and a Schneider Kreuznach 80mm Leaf Shutter f2.8 AF Lens. For starters. In a town like Palo Alto, you should be able to find one at your local Goodwill store.

Nah, dude, im just at a loss for why nikon left this out of a $1700 body. The d750 also has zebra which i dont know why they really left out of the d600 to begin with...

They are trying to create some separation between camera bodies, which is tough to do when you have five different full frame cameras you are selling (plus whatever left overs from previous models are still in stores). You have to leave features off of lower end models.

Well I own a D750 and it has a live histogram when in live view....you just need to turn it on by setting the exposure preview option to on. I owned a D600 before it and in my opinion the AF alone makes it worth the upgrade...if you do a lot of AF-C it'll be a life saver.

K-5, K-3 and K-01/K-30/K-50 have live view histogram.

If you believe it's such a critical camera feature that it's worth spending $2000 on, maybe you should return to Pentax ... Lots of good Black Friday deals atm

The AF-C on the D750 is really that much better? You're shooting with the current AF-S F2.8 zooms and/or the modern AF-S primes? I'm guessing that with my mid-grade zooms and AF-D primes I wouldn't see much of an improvement from my D600.

My focusing speed with the AF-D primes on my FM2n is nearly glacial.

The funny thing about that is, every picture taken with every camera these days looks like every other picture taken with every other camera.
This is so true! If it continues none of this will be fun anymore.

My impression was that it was about the same size as K5 but I wasn't comparing it side by side either. Which is pretty good considering it's full frame.

It is going to look big compared to an A7 though.

Full frame is a lot of fun, but at the end of the day I think APS-C is the sweet spot. Problem with full frame is the size and weight of lenses. The shallower DOF and slightly better performance/resolution isn't really worth it IMHO.
Christine is always worth listening to but this is especially interesting given how excited and persuasive she has been about the qualities of her A7R.

I was going to say that... but you said it better than me of course.
