I would highly recommend you give the fuji Instax a try. The cameras and film are fairly inexpensive and a lot of fun for parties. Film is much cheaper than the impossible project.
I'm not sure I'm keen on the appearance of the newer instant cameras. Most of the ones I've seen remind me too much of toy cameras.

I'm thinking about it. It's on my Amazon Wishlist.

I've just received an "Auto-100" Polaroid Land Camera. I'm giving it a couple of weeks to air out before I take it out in public (smells like a basement).
My new retirement plan involves a zebra-painted donkey, some funny hats, and me taking tourist photos with the Polaroid.

Fuji makes (made?*) two film-packs for these old contraptions.
FP-100c is ASA 100 color, FP-3000b is ASA 3200 B&W. Both are still widely available for the time being.

*It is likely that FujiFilm has already discontinued both of these products, though no official statement has been made that I know of.

Even the neo 90? It is kind of retro looking.

I would like it if they released a new better camera for the wide film. Something with the controls and options of the neo 90 would be great.
Just had a quick look at the Neo 90 - I hadn't seen it before. And I think I could happily use it. Now I've got something else on my to buy list!!!

The Neo 90 looks cool. They should do what Canon does with printers and just give them away, as the primary product in this case is instant film.

That's a good idea.
Funny how instant cameras are popular again. Partly I guess because so often people take snapshots & do nothing with them. At least with an instant camera people will have a printed record to keep

This is the Kickstarter project I was trying to mention, it's finally been launched as a project (hopeful this link works. If not search for Snapjet in Kickstarter)

I think this looks very cool, I'm tempted to pre-order one...

That is an interesting kickstarter
It is, especially because it works with any phone. Makes it accessible to a lot more people
